Stories From Taiwan, Part VI
Tomorrow is Duan Wu Jie (Dragon Boat Festival), so there are celebrations all weekend. We just came back from a river, where they were holding dragon boat races. We wandered along the riverbank and stopped at random stands to get food, ending up at a giant fountain. Of course, the logical decision was to jump in.
At first there were only three of us who went in, and we proceeded to run around the entire fountain. Turns out it was deeper than we thought it was, so instead of just wading around in ankle-deep water, we were splashing through knee-deep water. I figured I was already wet, so I went full speed ahead through multiple sprays of water, getting completely drenched in seconds. It was great.
And by the time we made it around the fountain, a couple more people had gotten in. Since I was soaked, I decided to make it my personal mission to get anyone who came in just as wet as I was. Much screaming and attempts at retaliation ensued.
Oh, and the dragon boat races were cool too.
