Easter Sunday: I wore a white skirt with bunches of multi-coloured flowers all over it, a pink lacy cami, and my bronze metallic ballet flats to church this morning. It felt very elegant and spring-like, even though the sky was threatening rain. After church we had lunch at the Med Grill, where I spent most of the time trying not to make eye contact with one of the waitresses, who I went to high school with. She was popular; I wasn't. Even though that was years ago and now she's clearing away my dirty dishes, it still feels strange.

Eric and I spent the afternoon wandering around Oak Bay, because we got tired of studying and somehow aimless strolling feels like a more positive form of procrastination. We walked through the village and laughed at the shop selling crocheted tea cozies in horrible shades of orange and brown (average age of customer: 85), peeked through the window of the Italian bakery (sadly, closed on Sundays), and took note of the unusually high number of flower shops and tea rooms with lacy curtains in the windows. Then we wandered hand in hand down Beach Drive, taking a break at the old lawn swing in the park beside the marina. They painted it brown, but when I was young it used to be green. After getting slightly lost somewhere between Oak Bay village and the golf club, we ended up at Windsor Park where a group of older men were playing cricket in blindingly white outfits.

I wish I had brought my camera with me – everything was so lush and green, and it felt like one of the first true spring days.

It's strange, but I feel happier just knowing that winter is receding into just another memory.
