It seems that I always write blog entries while I'm sitting in my human geography class.
Right there's a guest lecturer talking to us about types of wild cabbage. I think it's supposed to tie into the unit of agricultural geography, but I just don't see the point. The lecturer seems very enthusiastic about the topic though, which is good considering that she probably has spent a good number of years studying it. Personally, I could never become even remotely interested in something like that, but I guess that's why I'm a Pre-Commerce student and not a human geography student.
It's monday today, which I find to be deeply depressing. Monday means that there's still a whole week to get through before the weekend, and it means that I still have exactly four weeks to go before classes end. I'm not sure if I can survive through another four weeks of this. Usually I have at least one interesting class to keep me going, but this term? Everything and I mean everything is an exercise in boredom and frustration. I have a paper due on Wednesday in my Canadian sociology class, and I've only taken notes on the topic so far. Normally I would have had the paper largely completed by this point, but considering that the topic ("Gender Inequality in Canada's Workplaces") is so easy to write on, I figure that I can manage to write most, if not all, of it tonight.
Eric and I watched Pride and Prejudice on Saturday night, and it was surprisingly good. I say surprising because I had low expectations for the movie based on the fact that I'm generally not all that into movies based on old books, or just old books in general, but my end verdict was that it was very enjoyable. My favourite part was the scene at the very end because I'm a sucker for that type of ultra-romantic ending, despite the fact that it apparently was not true to the novel.
On Sunday, I spent the afternoon wandering around downtown with Eric. I had to return a pair of shoes to Aldo since I decided that they were actually quite ugly, and the salesgirl almost didn't accept the return because I didn't have the "original packaging" anymore. I managed to convince her to allow the return though, because I can be very persuasive when I want to and ultimately, the customer is always right. After the shoe incident, we walked along the Inner Harbour and up to the parliament buildings, where he took pictures of me standing on the front steps like a tourist might do. It reminded me of the time two years ago that my friends and I decided to make a human pyramid on the lawn, much to the amusement of the security guards and the packs of tourists. But anyways, then we wandered from the parliament buildings to Beacon Hill Park, which looks absolutely gorgeous now that the trees and flowers are starting to bloom. The park is probably one of my favourite places in the city, because it always seems so romantic. Eric took me out for a nice dinner after we finished our little stroll, and then I dragged him over to Starbucks to satisfy my coffee craving. I finally persuaded myself to try something different than my usual and went with a Cinnamon Dolce Latte, which was positively heavenly. Then I drove Eric out to the ferry, since he had to go home for a funeral. He's only gone until Wednesday morning, but it feels like a piece of me is missing.
Anyways, I think I've rambled on for long enough now. I should go read my organizational psych textbook so I'm not completely clueless during today's class. And also so that I don't do completely horribly on Thursday's midterm, although if it's as difficult as the last one then it's probably quite inevitable.
