Everything's Not Lost...

Life is precious, no matter how many times you fall, or how much it hurts sometimes. It is a gift that you have for a reason...even if you're not sure of what that reason is. There will always be stress, there will always be burdens, but at the end of the day there is some sort of light. Even when it doesn't seem like it.

I feel helpless when all my friends seem to have some unbearable burden that is bringing them down. I wish I could help all of them, because that is typically my nature...and yet all I can offer are words. I hope that's enough.

Life is not defined by other people. Friends and family are important when they are helpful, and they can help make life more interesting and fun. But when the people in your life make you feel unimportant or unloved, it's time to either talk to them or re-evaluate your bonds and cut the ones that are hurting you.

Stress is a part of life; it can't be escaped. Light cannot exist without dark, relaxation cannot be achieved until stress has been felt. It must be managed healthily and safely; any way that is detrimental to your well-being is unacceptable. Everyone has someone out there that is willing to help them; go to that person instead of bottling up your pain.

Failure is impermanent. Just because you lose at something once or find yourself in a rut you can't seem to get out of doesn't mean things have to stay the same. There is always the option to work harder, or to take a risk and see where it leads. There is always a way to get better, always a way to improve on the present. Everyone just has to find their personal, individualized meaning for it.

Sadness and depression are hard to escape, but it can be done if the will is strong enough. Running away is not an option; fighting through is. Why fall into old habits when you were doing well before? Keep fighting...keep winning. If sadness wins, life loses some of its value in your mind's eye, and then you'll never get any better. There is always a way to get better...saying there isn't is a form of running away. And as previously stated, that is not an option.

Everyone, work hard this semester. Better yourselves, go out into the world and become the person you've always dreamt of being. Even if you don't know exactly what to do right away, we're all young. We all have plenty of time to figure it out. All my friends are wonderful people, and I wish the best for all of them. And if anyone needs to talk, I'm here. I always have my phone. ^_^

Ganbatte, minna-san!!! (I think I got that right...)
