It seems I'm writing more and more in here lately.

Tonight I filled up the last clean page of my actual, real-life journal.  It was a little sad, but it came at just the right time, starting a new chapter in my life.  So I decided to look at the first pages of my real-life journal and they are filled with notes from my apprenticeship with PUSH physical theater from last summer, perfect timing, an entire year has gone by.

The first thing I wrote was about "The 4 Levels of Learning".  If you think of these in terms of dance or even something as simple as riding a bike they will make sense in the order in which they are listed!
1. unconsciously unskilled
2. consciously unskilled
3. consciously skilled
4. unconsciously skilled

neat, huh?

On Day 1 I also wrote what Darren said about "Training vs. Trying".  At the apprenticeship, we weren't just trying to learn mime, dance, lifts and other things, we were training "taking steps towards meeting your goal".  I thought that was interesting when he told us that, maybe you had to be there. haha

There are so many other things written in this notebook from PUSH, but I'm just going to write about one more which was written on Day 2 of the apprenticeship.

"I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free."
-Michelangelo on how he makes his sculptures so beautiful

Darren Stevenson explained this quote to us in this way.  "You don't need to impress everyone or prove yourself to anyone; that distracts you from who God wants you to be...The angel is already inside you.  You only have to cut away the bits that aren't you...present authenticity, present yourself as you are, flawed yes, but honest."  So basically, life isn't about adding all these things to who you are and creating your identity, it's about finding it, finding out who you really are, who God intended you to be, and chipping away at everything that's not you.  It's a different way of looking at things.

In other news, today was a lot of fun.  I hung out with Mikeo, Tom, and Jerry and played N64 and got free slurpees and played Monopoly.  It was awesome.  Tomorrow (hopefully) I'm going to the beach with some fun girls.  yay! :)

S'all for now folks!
