Very well done. I wrote a Gilderoy/Slughorn a while back and had the choice to make him Slytherin or not, and decided at that time that while I thought his ambition was second only to his narcissism, I wanted to look at a different Gilderoy - one whose self-confidence was not altogether backed up by the product to go with it.

But you've done a marvelous job of balancing his self-love and his lust for fame with ingenuous naivety. You really got into his voice, without going so over-the-top that the audience ceases to like him. Since in the books, he's really a snake-oil salesman, that's no mean feat. And I *love* the setup you included for his book deal.

I'm glad the Gilderoy portrayed here worked for you - it is indeed quite a tricky balance to strike - making him both recognisably in character and still readable. I'm also pleased you liked the setup for the book deal - it was fun to write!

I'd love to read your Gilderoy/Slughorn fic, if its available? Your 'different Gilderoy' sounds intriguing :-)

Excellent characterization of young Gilderoy! His motivations and through processes were fascinating, and I enjoyed the story very much.

(And I'd cheer if you were to give us some more of his adventures . . . :D )

*g* I can't help it, I'm really intrigued by your Gilderoy! I'd be so interested to see how he got along with Lucius; I bet theyd either spend their time comparing hair care tips or they'd hate eachother on sight. *G* And I imagine him having all sorts of further adventures with Slughorn and his friends. . . . *giggle*

I really like this Slughorn, and could see why Lockhart would find him hawt. I totally thought that Lockhart was hitting on Snape during Book 2, I mean, his wand is overexcited?
