Awww. Yesterday was a good day. Reception went alright, nervous at first of course, but by the end of the day I was putting people through and giving them numbers and putting them on voicemail no problem, heh. I'm booked in for another week's work experience next month as well. When Craig found out, he exclaimed "Jesus Christ Lauren! We'll have to start paying you soon." Me: "Er, that's my intention sweetheart."
I did get star struck a couple of times. This Scottish man called, and when I asked who was speaking he said "Dee from Biffy." for those unaquainted with Biffy Clyro, Dee is their manager. Me: "DEE FROM BIFFY! er yes I will put you through." *shakes*
David Axelrod also called- he’s this 70’s music producer who’s work is sampled by Jay Z and stuff. Craig and Colleen told me all about him down the pub, saying he was the most rock’n’roll guy who ever lived. I was like “OMG I’ve heard so much about you!” when he said his name, then giggled to myself when I put down the phone.
I’m lame.
During lunch I bought a pinstripe jacket from my beloved Dotty P <3 It looked so good with my outfit I wore it to the gig that night, teamed with Peaches and “I <3 PIXIES” badges I stole from a little dish in reception. The sandwich I bought was mouldy though. Wah.
Then it was World’s end in Camden, saw my estranged littlebig brother Phillip and saw Sami and Kara and other people who were very pretty and well dressed. Gen had already departed for Converge next door (sad really, because I would have liked to see her reaction to my Strokes-fan wear ;)) and because I couldn’t find any touts, just tagged along with the big crowd to see Corporation:Blend at the Bull and Gate. OH YEAH, I SAW
LEELOO!!!!!! In my flustered state at seeing such a celebrity I naturally screamed like a girl half my age and ran and hugged him, to the bemusement of his very pretty girlfriend. I apologised because I’m nice like that, but she didn’t look too impressed. Oops? Sorry!
ANYWAY….. we were sat in the Bull’n’Gate for ages, and I was so tired because it’s been so long since I’ve spent 14 hours awake without a nap I ended up sat in a chair in the corner of the pub, head on the pinball machine falling asleep. Sami and Phillip were literally tapping me going "Laaaaaauuurrreeeennnnn, wake uuuup...."
C:B were okay in the end, I danced a little but to be honest they aren’t really my kinda schtick, you know? It was worth it though because two people I’d never met before told me they thought I was “beautiful and stylish.” Which is always nice. Mwahaha.
Job centre then Cat Power tomorrow night.
