O HIE THER!

So first, one of my friends found out what that painting was I was asking about is named: A Virgin, by Abbott Handerson Thayer , (American, 1849-1921) and here's a link to a better view. Breathtaking! What resolve and strength! I can't afford it right now, but when I can I shall get it and put it up in my apartment, my first print ever. (maybe a christmas gift)

That is not the only pretty art I've seen - I find Alexandre Day's work to be something special. It's not haunting but it's not entirely comfortable, either. It's cute but something about it - maybe the way it's smudged or the lines just stop sometimes - makes it feel dreamy in a brink-of-something-else way. Go see!

I've been proud of my friends this week - doing some very cool things, wow. Keep going! (You might have to copy-paste the links to the youtubes - they're expired now.)

I have also been looking at some iconic women this week - Clara Bow, Theoretical Girl (try Hypocrite, for an earworm), Sidney Fox (that last publicity still disarms me), and Edie Sedgwick especially. Interesting, all, but sometimes so, so sad.

But allow me to show you something quite happy - It's a-me, Mario-bar! Hey, I think maybe we need to make some of these drinks on Sunday Movie Nights, don't you? :D

I visited 2 art schools and met a bazillion and a half people today. (YES, I MET ONE HALF PERSON, ok?) Of course I brought a bento for lunch and even though it looks warm in that picture? With the hurricane wind and 58 degree weather, it was NOT warm. But I had a most wonderful and productive day!! I'd blog about it but really there's just too much from me to squee over - it's one of those talk-a-mile-and-a-minute things because I am AMAZED and excited about all this! And I even got my painting done for the day while I was sitting in a quad on campus. What a good girl am I!

Tomorrow is, again, the busiest of days. And this weekend - SHEESH! See you guys later - enjoy the links! And if you have anything fun up on a tab on your desktop drop it here, will you?
