From staff reports
Monday, September 1, 2008
A 46-year-old Ventura man was arrested Sunday after fleeing from police after a routine traffic stop.
Police say Tracy Houle gave them a false name when they stopped him about 1 p.m. Then he started his car and took off, creating a police chase.
He stopped his car in the 6500 block of Ralston Street in Ventura and fled on foot. Police dogs helped search the area and found him hiding in bushes in the backyard of a residence on Ralston.
No one was injured, according to police.
Houle was charged with felony evading, providing false information to police and outstanding warrants.

Police arrested a Ventura man in connection with an armed robbery and have identified his alleged accomplice, authorities said Wednesday.
Two men robbed College Liquor at 4220 Telegraph Road in Ventura on Aug. 19, assaulted the store clerk and pointed a handgun at him, Ventura Police Department officials said in a prepared statement.
Police said the clerk suffered minor injuries.
Detectives used surveillance video to identify two suspects in the robbery, authorities said.
Brian Devlin, 21, was arrested Aug. 21 on suspicion of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy. Authorities said a search of his home revealed evidence from the robbery.
He was held Wednesday at Ventura County Jail in lieu of $65,000 bail.
Justin Batten, 22, of Ventura has been identified by police as the second suspect. He has an arrest warrant that alleges robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Ventura police detectives at 339-4394, or make an anonymous call to Ventura County Crime Stoppers at 385-TALK. Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of up to $1,000 for a tip that leads to an arrest.
