I really need a holiday. Only one week left, but that just seems too much to handle right now. In fact, I think I've already switched completely to holiday-mode. No work is getting done whatsoever. School goes by so slowly. We're just not doing any work in class either. I think the teachers have switched to holiday-mode too. Hey, I'm not at all comlaining. But I guess I have another week of school ahead, full of card games (bullshit; its so much fun. I hadn't played that game for about... three years?) and "I spy". What can I say, its extremely entertaining.
Yesterday was great though. Met Inbal. Played bullshit. Did Sinterklaas present thingy. Watched a bunch of 6th Form guys and a few maths teachers get their legs waxed (with extremely painful looks on their faces) for charity. Now that was entertaining. Then chatted away through the rest of the afternoon in physics. Ahh. And then I got the RotK EE DVD!! YAY!!
Which is, I must say, totally amazing. I love it. How can I not? For a start, its about 4 hours long. And thats not even counting the appendices and all. So ofcourse I watched all the new and extended scenes. They just make the movie so much more like the book (well, some scenes, not all). And the characters are just portrayed so much better. Really, PJ did an amazing job. I don't think anyone should criticise, I'm pretty sure they could not have done any better.
1.
After I had seen the teaser trailer, I expected the worst for the Mouth of Sauron scene. Actually, its my favourite scene now; it was just perfect. Not how I had expected it, but I wouldn't change it if I could. Aragorn needs to take some anger management lessons though. Hehehe.
2.
That five-second moment when Aragorn comes out of the Dwimorberg, sees the Corsair ships, and breaks down completely as if all hope were lost. I really don't understand how the Oscar people had the nerve to ignore acting skills in this movie. Especially of Viggo.
3.
When Eomer finds his sister on the Pelennor Fields. And the entire Houses of Healing scene that follows. For the short time that it lasts, its amazing. And I'm in love with the song.
4.
The Paths of the Dead scene. The entire extended part. It is just too funny. Legolas practises his prose again. Gimli desperately tries to get rid of the 'dead' around him by waving his arm around and blowing at them. Okay, there is just no way to describe how hilarious that is, you just have to see it for yourself. Aragorn and Gimli get a little fidgetty when they realise they are standing on skulls (*crunch*crunch*crunch*). After holding unpleasant conversation with the 'dead' for a bit, they are drowned in skulls. Legolas goes under for a bit. After a bit of struggling, they get out.
5.
Faramir. Faramir Faramir Faramir. These new and extended scenes really do his character justice (finally). ♥ Faramir.
6.
Merry and Pippin. Cute and adorable all the way through! *awww* Merry riding his little miniature horse. They don't get enough credit for their roles.
7.
Frodo and Sam in orc outfits. Adorable. Even when dressed up as orcs, they look cute. Aww. And Gollum mocking Frodo in front of Mount Doom. His face!! HAHAH! Priceless.
8.
Legolas and Gimli in a drinking game. Legolas: "I feel something. A slight tingle in my fingers. I think its affecting me." - hahahaha! Always the man, Legolas.
9.
Gandalf choking on his pipe. I have no idea why I find that so funny, but I do. "*cough*cough* Ridiculous hobbit. *cough*cough*cough* Guard of the *cough* Citadel. *cough*cough*"
10.
Saruman bitch-slapping Grima. Too funny.
1.
The 'confrontation' between Gandalf and the Witch King. Its pretty faithful to the book in terms of what they say, but for some reason I don't like it that much. Witch King comes, he breaks Gandalf's staff (err - wtf?), Gandalf and Pippin fall off Shadowfax. Witch King taunts for a bit, then gets distracted by Theoden's army and flies off. Hmm. It wasn't that bad, but, *shrugs* I think I just expected a lot more from this scene.
2.
Saruman and Grima's death scene. Quite the sequence, I must say. But really, for some reason, I was laughing all the way through. I can't say I really like it. Grima starts stabbing Saruman in the back, Legolas feels the need to show us he has good aim with arrows and shoots Grima down, after which Saruman falls off Orthanc onto some spiked wheel below (with a sick crunchy sound), which starts turning, and Saruman disappears in the water. Eh?
3.
Not really a 'worst moment' as such (as the scenes were good), but I really wish the Faramir/Eowyn scenes were longer. Barely two minutes long I'm sure. Come on. That could've been longer!
And the easter egg!!! I haven't laughed that much for a long time. Its just hilarious. Dom is so convincing with his german accent. No wonder Elijah bought it all. His facial expressions really are priceless sometimes.
I like Harry Potter. I like Lord of the Rings. Deal with it. You don't like it, that's just fine with me. We can just leave it out of conversations then. I don't really care that much. And I'm not the one to tell people what to like and what not to like. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Therefore, that includes me. If you do not like said things, there is no need to keep telling me over and over. I get it. I'm sure I could find something you are obsessed with that I find pathetic.
Oh, I'm sorry, did I just insult your fandom?? Well then stop insulting mine.
Just because I like something you don't, and I spend a lot of time reading/writing/watching/listening to things about it, does not mean I am pathetic or sad. I'm just really sick of people telling me how shitty LotR or HP (or something else) is, especially when they haven't read the books, and they have absolutely no clue what on earth they are talking about. If you've seen it/listened to it/read it or whatever and actually get it, and you don't like it, fine. Why should I have a problem with that? I just really really hate it when people diss things they know nothing about, especially when they do it to piss you off on purpose. So don't talk to me about it if you're just planning to insult something I really like. I don't need it. Okay? Good.
Just for the record, this is to no one in particular. A bunch of people. If you're reading this, it probably isn't directed to you at all (really, I promise). It has been building up for a long time now, and I just wanted to let it out for once. And I'm actually in a really good mood. Really. :)
