My math teacher told the class she was only going to call the ones that had failed on Wednesday night and so it was 9:49 yesterday, and I was jubilating at the thought of having passed my fist math exam in who knows how many years. But I must of jinxed it by accident because the phone rang and it was her.
I looked at the clock: 9:50. 'Young girl suddenly dies of a heart attack by hearing the phone ring' I can already see the headlines. I wince at the thought of answering, but it's for me, and I know it's her.
She greets me on the phone, very formally, because that's the kind of woman she is. But she goes on: "Congratulations, you passed your exam with 77. It was hard, I'm very proud of you, you did well. Good luck with the 526 program next year."
