I did a really cool thing this week. Discovered there is a creative writing group that meets weekly during lunch hour at our hospital campus, so I joined it!
The group usually does a short creative writing exercise together and people share if they want to. Other times people bring in what they've been working on from home to share, especially if they want advice.
I presented my novel to them -- just gave them the basic storyline/setting/characters and told them what I was stuck on. They came up with some really awesome workable ideas! I could totally kick myself for not having shared it with a writers' group years ago...maybe it would have been published by now.
I haven't touched my novel for about 2 years. Went home all inspired to continue working on it, only to discover that the file is missing! I was sure I had backed it up, but couldn't find it on my backup drive either. I do have a hard copy though
. And with all these new ideas I think it wouldn't hurt to just start from scratch and use the old material just for reference. No not such a big catastrophe really. I could really use a fresh start anyway.
So now, where to find the time to write?!??
Coming home after work there's usually only time to give Liam dinner, play with him and/or have a bath with him, and then get him ready for bed. Then I'm exhausted! But we often watch a movie after Liam's in bed, so I think I'll have to replace a good chunk of my movie-watching time with writing time.
This will be fun.
