Hmmm... it's just my computer then. Looked at it on another comp in our house and it looks fabulously non-blobby.

Well, that's good and bad news, then. ^^; Good in that it wasn't the image, and bad in that it was your computer. :/ Have you tried clearing out your temporary internet files lately? If you do, then it will re-load the image next time it pops up online; it may fix the problem. Then again, it may not.
