Wow..... so I guess it's been quite some times since I've updated my LiveJournal! It looks like my last one was on Halloween of last year, and that was just to bitch about being sick. Which I'm sure at the time was a total bitch. Doesn't it suck sometimes to read back on what you've decided to post about on your blogs? Eeesh. Anyway.
Let me break this down: The past few months have been some of the best of my life. Have I acquired me a mans? Nope. Have I won the lottery? Nope. Nope nope nope. A few months back I decided that I needed to quit farting around and be serious about what direction my lifestyle was going. I was terribly tired most of the time, and very unhappy about the *ahem* wider shape my body has taken the past few years. Now, I did post recently about how my drinking habits had changed. Meaning, I'm not binge drinking every weekend. Sometimes twice a week. Sometimes 3, but who's counting right? That changing definitely has it's benefits. The drop in drinking happened naturally, but what wasn't happening naturally were my eating habits. So a few months back I made a decision to cut out the junk food. I eat healthier things, with the exception of once a week usually on the weekend. I allow myself a 'whatever' meal that includes a dessert dish. I don't go overboard because really, that would be stupid. I sit, and savor my 'whatever' meal, knowing that it's a full week before I can have another burger and fries or what have you. It's working out. This is a routine I'm pretty sure I can live with, which is my goal. It gets easier as time goes on.
In addition, a few months back I decided to start commuting to and from work by bicycle. This decision has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Since I need to leave home for work at about 5 in the morning, 95% of the time I make sure I get at least 7 hours of sleep. This usually means I'm in bed at say 8:30 or 9, but I feel like a totally new person because of it! I'm an annoyingly chipper bastard all the time. Just..... happy. Rested, exercise daily, eating well, no hard partying. Life is so totally effing wonderful lately :)
The very latest of what's happening in my life is
this. I have joined the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training program. My cycle training is something I am 100% committed to for the next 4 months. I've always enjoyed raising money for the
Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and will continue to do so in honor of my mother Patricia, who as many of you know, succumbed to breast cancer when I was 5. It's a cause near and dear to me, and always will be. Now, I'm thrilled to say that I'm going to raise (at least) $3000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by pushing myself to my physical limits in order to enter a century ride at Lake Tahoe in June. 100 miles is big, and so is the cause I ride for. I am determined like I've never been! This will no doubt be life changing.
I have created
2tiretracks to keep anyone interested up to date on my progress and experiences with Team in Training. In the coming months, I'll more than likely be spending my time and energy (blogwise) updating over there. Go ahead and friend me if you'd like to keep up and let me know if you do so I can add you back! :)
