Science sucks.

Oh, God. Why did those professors have to assign so much homework? All at once, no less. Reading assignments on top of written reactions to said reading on top of research papers... it just wasn't human. In fact, Connor might go so far as to say it was absolutely amoral. He was really beginning to hate college, and the long hours spent at the library weren't helping. Hell, the librarian was now able to recognize him on sight, even called him by his first name.

Chilling.

He was glad, at least, that he wasn't stuck in this hell alone. College had at least allowed him to make a few friends, people who felt his pain as they all slogged through the endless sea of notes and papers together. Sighing, Connor turned the corner and found himself in the dreaded Life Sciences aisle, the shelves lined with old, dusty books that no human in their right mind ever dared to check out, not unless they absolutely had to. He grimaced and glanced down at the index card in his hand, taking a moment to try and decipher his own handwriting. "Modern Biology, Fifth Edition, and The Miracle of Life: A Scientific Study of Microscopic Organisms... God, who names these books? I could do a better job than that."

He had the feeling that this was just going to be another afternoon wasted at the library. He would, as usual, spend hours doing research and taking notes that he wouldn't even end up using when it came time to write his paper, since, like all other good college freshman, he would wait until the night before it was due to even think about starting it. From there on out, it would all be nothing more than premium BS. At least it worked -- it was a tried and true writing method utilized by students everywhere.

Frowning, he stood back and began to scan the shelves for the desired books. Great. It didn't look like the volumes on the shelves were in any kind of specific order, or arranged by any system he had ever seen. Weren't libraries supposed to use that... Dewey Decimal thing? Whatever happened to that?

"Guess they just couldn't make this easy for me... alright. Let's see... Modern Biology," he muttered to himself, starting at one end of shelves and slowly beginning to work his way towards the middle of the aisle.
