Okay, so I've been outta the office for a while. I had this case, right? Man accused of murdering three people, whose bodies have never been found, and this guy, even though he came to Wolfram and Hart, was actually innocent. Can you believe it?
So I've been working closely with him. We found all the information we needed. I wrote up the writ of habeas corpus, since there was no actual evidence other than, "well, some guys at this club saw him argue with the deceased." Well, and he was the brother and nephew of those who died (his sister Linda and brother-in-law Dennis and their great-aunt Hilda). A month or so into the case? Great Aunt-Hilda's body was found, dropped off in the ocean, slighty north of L.A. Her wrinkled old corpse showed up, only a bit more wrinkled and somewhat decayed.
Still no sign of Linda and Dennis' bodies. So what'd we do? First, we dredged that area of the ocean (can't dredge the whole thing. Well, W&H has a way, but I said no), and nothing. So what'd we do? With a subpoena , I was able to get Hilda's body as a witness. Yah, she was a bit gross, but her tongue was intact. I was able to pull one of the agencies shaman, and of course, swear him to honesty (funny thing, he really did. Damned if this place ain't better than we thought).
And in court? Hilda testified that Linda and Dave took her deed to her summer house in San Francisco, after making sure she'd signed her whole will over to them (hence, the fight that was witnessed between our client and them), and then they choked her, and threw her in the bay. They assumed her body would wash out to sea, and my client would get all the blame.
Now they're in for life, and the client is out free. Oh, and Hilda's been laid to rest, thank the gods. I was afraid she'd be around the place, rotting forever.
whistling I am the major model of a modern major general, he heads for his office.
Wonder what all I missed.
