Well since I updated on the family stuff.. Well kinda, there was a lot more, but it's all kind of hazy.. I was only there for a few days, yet I did so much and saw so many people..
Anyway, I have worked some good shows since I got back..
Thursday was Steel Pulse.. As many know, this is one of my all-time favorite bands.. Even if you don't like reggae, this band will amaze you..
I walked in and the first person I saw was Moonie (the guitarist), that's my boy! Love him.. He looked at me and smiled and said "Hey Scorch!" I was so surprised he remembered.. I said "welcome back Moonie! Good to see ya!" I told him to make sure to do the rock star pose on the monitor tonight.. hehe.. he started busting up.. He said " you like that one huh?" I said "yeah, it's a lady killer" *wink* tee hee.. That night was so bad ass.. Every show just amazes me.. This time they had this crazy ass guitar tech.. I have never met him before.. I thought he was going to be a dick at first cause he was so upset at people from the opener.. they weren't sound checking properly and he was starting to shout obscenities at them.. hehe.. But when i got on stage to focus he came and said hi and complimented my tatt.. I saw him walk in through the front door and he came over and out of nowhere grabbed me by the arms shook me and growled.. hahaha.. I started busting up laughing.. Then he said, "I had to get that out and you were my random victim".. I said "glad i could be of service." He said he had a headache so I got him a few Advil from the back.. It was all gravy train after that.. :)
At the end of the show I was so amped.. I just walked around with a big ass cheese grin on my face.. It was a great night.. Tech boy came to me on the side of the stage, he grabbed me again by the arms and planted a smooch on me! I was like "ah" he said "you fucking rock!" I said " well thank you, thank you very much. I had a great time." Still a little in shock, I said "Is this how you thank the whole crew?" He busted up and said "nah, you're the only one. I don't kiss boys." Suuuuure you don't.. *wink*
So yeah, awesome night..
Last night was Concrete Blonde.. Again a fucking bad ass show! Last time they were here they did a half acoustic set.. This time is was all rock n roll! Johnette is such an amazing woman.. She just has this thing about her.. She sings like a freight train, it just blows you away.. And she has this attitude that I love.. I would love to play bass like her someday.. That would be awesome.. Even in sound check she was flawless.. Last time her tour manager was a dick.. Him and his Moby lookin ass.. But this time they had a cool crew.. I got her to sign my time slip.. I was so nervous.. I hardly ever get star-struck, but I couldn't help it.. You can't help but get like that is her presence.. She said "Damn girl you look a little pale." I said "Yeah, well it's been a long day and I could use a drink." She laughed and said " I could use a few more myself." I didn't do much talking, to save myself embarrassment. I just told her what an awesome the show was and how much I enjoy when they come to play.. She thanked me and signed my time slip "Love Johnette"
I was pretty stoked..
Tonight is the Easy Star All-Stars.. They do a reggae version of Pink Floyd.. It's called "Dub side of the moon" Can't wait to check that out..
On the 29th I will be in La Brea for the First Annual Air Jamaica Dominoes Tournament.. A few of the Jamaicans that do reggae promotion all over the US told me about it.. They come to our club for the bigger reggae shows and over the years I have become good friends with a few of them.. They let me know about upcoming events i might be interested in.. They seem to respect that I know and love reggae music.. I told them that reggae music is part of my soul.. I can't help it.. Love them dreadies.. :)
