Wow, it's sure been awhile that I've updated...
Well, the trip at China was really really awesome XD I learned soo many things about the culture, geography and history of China. It really was worth actually paying attention to the tour guides' explanations XD; Went to many amazing and beautiful places, and we were pretty lucky that it was either rainy or cloudy, or else it would've been SO FREAKIN' HOT.
Of course, we went to the Shanghai world expo, and we got to go there for 2 days XDD I absolutely LOVE the archeture designs for each pavilion. They're all unique and pretty artistic, so I took lots of pics of that XD Oh my god, but just as I heard, there were a LOT of ppl. Like, I've never seen soo many people in one place before. According to the statistics, the days we've gone had at least 410 000 people there. o_o And these were MONDAYS, the day that LEAST ppl go. Since there were so many people it was kinda hard to take pictures cause there's usually always ppl, or umbrellas (either to block rain or sun) in the way ^^;
But all in all, I still find the experience is worth it. It may be hot, there may be lots and LOTS of ppl, many many line-ups and barely any chances to GET into a pavilion, but I'm still glad I went. I'm actually pretty satisfied with just looking at the outside structure of each building. The designs are just too awesome XD And all of these buildings (except for China's pavilion) are only going to up until the expo ends so it's now or never. We managed to go in some of them though, we got to go to the pavilions for EU, Belgium, Greece, Turkey (funny how they're placed right next to each other), Canada (Canadians can go straight in if they show their passports XDD) ,Shanghai expo culture center, China's various provinces, and luckily enough, China XDD
For the China pavilion, which is impossible to get in because a reservation is required and you have to line-up for at least 5 hrs, we were really lucky since we had a group reservation with our tour. So instead of lining up for 5 hrs or more, we ended up only having to suffer for an hour and a half xP It felt like forever though, like, it was like one line-up after another and it felt like it'll nvr end D: We didn't get to stay long though since we had a plane to catch and the line-up took longer than we predicted, but we at least managed to see the main attraction: the GIGANTIC 130x6.3m (30 times the original) moving painting of
"Along the River during the Qingming Festival". This is a really really famous painting in China's history. What's funny is the way I see the figures moving reminded me of NPCs in video games haha~
Hehe..I swear when we went straight in Canada's pavilion the people who were lining up were all glaring at us ==;; I can't blame them, cause lining up in that sort of heat with ALL that ppl...is not fun =/ And...I'm afraid to admit that I felt like gloating haha...When we got in, it felt like we're back home XD Some of the Canadian workers there spoke fluent Chinese which was really cool and awesome o.o There wasn't as much to see as I expected, but the few big things we saw did not disappoint XD I felt some national pride there, really xP
I witnessed quite a few things in China hehe...especially traffic. Oh my god the TRAFFIC. It's as if the traffic lights were useless since most ppl just ignore them o_o; And what's even more AMAZING is the fact that...no one gets hurt. Seriously, in North America where pedistrians are the most important on the road, there's not such thing here in China, or Asia actually. Here it's more like, no one's letting anyone XD; Pedestrians walk right in front of cars (while the light's green for the cars too) or cars nearly hit each other, or pedestrians...etc. And it's funny how I haven't witnessed any accidents yet, seriously o.o; Haha here rules mean nothing. I was actually pretty amused...XD;
And once when we went out and the subway had closed down already, we had to take a taxi back to our hotel. We ended up having a non-licensed taxi driver, albeit with PRO "breaking traffic rules and not getting caught" skills, drive us back XD; Really, it was a normal car with no sign that indicates it's a taxi, and it looked like a completly normal car inside. Kinda sketchy and it was the most reckless driving I've ever seen o_o The guy literally switched lanes every few seconds, honking his horn continuously for who knows how long, running red lights, and driving at godspeed XD; lmao my mom and my bro were terrified. We all kept silent though since the guy seemed pretty rude, but he sounded normal when we paid him at the end. Anyway, though it was completely reckless, I gotta give it to him for his skills XD; It felt like an express loll
It felt really weird not being able to go on sites like facebook or youtube D: Omg especially youtube!! That's where I go to listen to music usually and I ended up having to go on tudou or niconico ==; At least lj works XD Lj works everywhere~
