(no subject)
tonight i had the slight misfortune of cathing some of the MTV movie awards. i was introduced to this musical outfit called AFI, or something. One word: TERRIBLE. not harsh enough? Abomination. i like to think that i give any band i hear a fair chance at capturing my musical interests, however, it was clear from the beginning that i would be having none of this one. granted i'm not one that spends much time doing my hair or something like that, but these guys spend way way WAY entirely too much time doing their hair, their make-up and picking out which black outfit to wear. not to mention the guy couldn't sing, the drummer sucked, the bass player wasn't creative at all, and the guitar player wasn't impressive at all. ok, enough of that....
i mentioned earlier that it was a SLIGHT misfortune, thus implying that there was some good that came out of it; i'm always amazed and delighted to see what new visuals and concepts MTV comes up with for their award shows and new seasons of shows. as much as mtv represents a lot of what i feel is wrong with music, they are always, always on the cutting edge of art trends and design trends. their stage design and graphics for the awards show were spectacular. for most of the short time that i watched, i just kept it on mute so i could do other things, but still see what they had to offer.
i'm going to petoskey this weekend. it's gonna be sweet.
