Three things that are awesome:

1. Saw a dude named Baba Brinkman perform his poems/rhymes/pieces the other night. Man! (alternatively, Woman!) he was inspiring, in both his talent and his rapping subject matter. Having never heard of him before that night, I bought one of his CDs right there and I hardly ever do that. It sounds kind of strange, but it's almost like seeing this show has provided me an extra boost and the impetus (although there have been other things and a building-up) to get more active with all the creative ideas I have, as well as making more meaningful changes in my life and actions. Rather than just feeling content with having my own views and ideas, educating myself and keeping myself somewhat on top of the news, I realise (well, more clearly now) I simply have to take further steps of, basically, translating thought into discussion and action. Even if I'm lacking in confidence or scared of people's responses and whatnot. I dunno, I'll see how long I can keep this positive momentum going!

2. I participated in my first flash mob. It was a pillow fight! Essentially, we gathered in the middle of Floriade (big spring flower festival -- incidentally, spring is amazing here this year. I am glad I don't get hayfever) and all of a sudden we were a group of 40 or so, we began beating each other senseless with pillows for a good four minutes, then we dispersed. Wonderful random fun! I look forward to the next one.

3. After at least three years of waiting, today The Weakerthans' new album Reunion Tour arrived in my mailbox ON THE RELEASE DATE! I have listened to it once and my doubts and suspicions were dispelled. It is wonderful and further listens will surely reveal: amazing, awesome, marvellous etc. A lot more 'electronic' sounding than I expected and perhaps with tighter song structures, but even on the first listen I was grinning and moved by John's lyrics and loving the fact that I love the song named Bigfoot! and that they decided on a spoken-word banjo piece in the middle. Yes, my Weakerthans nerdery has returned at double strength. I'm going to listen to the album again now.
