Some new news on Joe Lieberman and Ned Lamont, battling for the Senate Democratic Nomination in Connecticut. The primary is August 8.
"Howard L. Reiter, chairman of the political science department at the
University of Connecticut, said Mr. Lieberman had developed the complacency and hubris of many long-term incumbents.... Mr. Olsen said he thought that Mr. Lieberman had been hurt, as many senators are, by frequently being out of the state.
Lieberman has said he will run as an independent if he loses to Mr. Lamont, an announcement that one associate said only further hurt his standing with Democratic voters and elected officials who already were questioning his loyalty ... Should Mr. Lieberman lose the primary, all indications are that most Democratic leaders will abandon him in the general election race against Mr. Lamont and the Republican candidate, Alan Schlesinger."
Full Article "A new Rasmussen Reports poll shows Ned Lamont (D) beating Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-CT) in the Democratic primary, 51% to 41%.

Full Article I'd like to point out that this comes out AFTER Bill Clinton starts campaigning for Lieberman. Lamont's numbers just keep skyrocketing. Last week, he was up 51-47, now Lieberman's dropped to 41. Of course, when Lamont first announced, he was at 3%, now he's leading an 18-year incumbent. Also, a month ago he was at 20% in the 3-way race, now he's at 40% and tied for the lead. Lamont just keeps skyrocketing... and that was BEFORE this:
