Salene/Bray:Darkness:Location:Unknown

[OOC:Continued from HERESalene felt her chin wobble, he'd struck a nerve, but the seething anger coursing through her was no match for the slight upset he'd caused, and though she felt confused and conflicted with her emotions, mostly she was just pissed off. Salene glared up at him, trying to formulate the words, to calculate what he was saying ( Read more... )

Salene growled when the little object flew down at her and bounced off of her head, even though she'd dodged it. What was that anyway? Salene didn't have to shield her eyes anymore, the sun was going down now and it was nearing nightfall, but that made it even dimmer down here than it had been previously. Salene looked down before the second door slammed them into darkness and found the small...box? She reached out and picked it up just as the second door slammed down and she fingered it, why...that felt like a..matchbox? Wooo! "Bray! Bray he gave us matches! What...what game is he playing at?" She was confused, everything was so confusing, "I am so tired," she said, suddenly feeling very worn out and spent. "How are you holding up?" Salene's voice even sounded weak and barely there, she was so tired of crying and screaming and yelling, she just wanted to lay in bed for days and recuperate, but, in her own bed, in the mall, and she was tired of wishing to be home too, she was sick of it all...all except for Bray's company, she still felt grateful to have him in here with her, as miserable an existence this was, at least she had an ally.

Bray turned as the figure left the opening. He turned and looked at Salene, the light was getting dim, so he soaked in every last bit of light they had in case they didn't get anymore.

"I'm fine," he said finally. "We got matches huh? Great," he said sarcasticaly, "Probably means he's going to leave the door shut tomorrow."

He walked round the room, wincing as he moved, but ignoring the pain at the moment. He wasn't about to let himself fall again, he started to look for a way out again, there must be something they'd missed.

Salene moved away from Bray, not even bothering to make sure he was headed back to the bed, just assuming he was. Besides, now she was on a mision. She didn't care so much that the door wouldn't be opened tomorrow, at least they'd have light anyway. She couldn't stand it, the darkness made her eyes do this weird surging thing trying to adjust and failing because there was no light. It hurt, in some ways, and in others it made her dizzy. She found the canvas bag and dug around excitedly, pulling out the candles happily and grasping one, pulling it from the bag. She had no candle holder, so she moved from the bed, a few feet away and laid out on the floor. She placed the candle in front of her and pulled a match from the box, striking it and smiling when fire came up, yes, fire, light, thank you thank you. She used it to melt the bottom of the candle just a bit then stuck it to the floor, holding it there until the wax hardened again. She had to strike a second match, but the box was full and as long as they kept watch on the candle and didn't let the flame go out, they could light all subsequent candles from it.

Salene smiled as she held the match to the candle and the wick came to life, oh glorious light. Salene moved away and leaned against the matress on the floor, her back against it, her eyes trained on the flame. "Look Bray!" she said happily, glancing up and trying to get her eyes to adjust to this new low light so she could see where he was. "Where'd you go?"

"I'm over here," he said resignedly. He turned around, the candle light was brightening the fading light levels as the day must be turning to night. His look round so far hadn't revealed anything, he was wasting his time, the bastards hadn't left anything that could be of use. In an act of sudden rage he punched the wall, the pain to his fist was excrutiating, the pain in his shoulder, even though he'd punched from the other side of his body, was nearly too much to bare. He raised his throbbing hand to his shoulder and grimaced.

"You know what," he said calmly inspite of the pain. "I don't there's a way out of here, we're trapped."

Salene let out a small yelp when he punched the wall, the sound of flesh hitting brick was not a pretty sound and it had kind of frightened her, the way he was getting kind of angry and self abusive. She just gulped and tried to keep her mind off of things for now, she had light, she could..check out his wounds for now, if he'd let her. She glanced around the room as he gave her the dismal news and she frowned, he was right, it was one big stone room, solid, and except for the door up above them, there was no visible way out, no windows, no other doors, except for the restroom which she'd assumed was void of windows. They had to be quite a few feet under the ground...that was kind of frightening, being down here, it was probably quite a bit sound proof and except for the possibility of that vent, no one could really hear them from in here. She sighed and her forehead creased, she didn't want to think about this stuff now, she wanted to be happy to have fire and candlelight, as lame as that was right now.

Salene sat on her behind and pulled her knees to her chest, resting her chin on her arm, her eyes fixated on the fire at the candle's end. She glanced up, the light was making her feel relaxed, it had a strange calming effect. "Bray, come sit and let me look at your shoulder and side, we should check out your wounds while we can, I'm sorry I didn't do it in the daylight," Salene frowned again, she'd kind of neglected him to sleep in the sunlight...like some kind of large cat, she'd been unable to resist it, the warmth, the energy at it's center, and she'd enjoyed it too much. She moved her legs into an indian style seated position and smiled, patting the floor in front of her, "Come on now, let me look," she gave him a soft smile and waited for him to sit down, unwilling to fight with him now.

"No," he said more forcefully than he meant to. "I'm fine," he said softening his tone. He turned around, but rather than walking back to the bed as she was trying to get him to do, he took half a step backwards, and leaned against the wall. He grimaced from the pain, but he swore to himself it was getting less and less.

He looked round, the night was falling faster, and it seemed as though the only source of light was the candle, even though the door was open. He looked desperately for a way to escape, his half fevered mind was conjuring up bizarre ways to escape. He could see himself running at the furthest wall, jumping from it and grabbing a support beam and making his way from beam to beam until he reached the door. Though now the light was nearly gone he couldn't remember the support beams.
He wondered if he could throw Salene up through the hatch, he pictured some show of his strength but even for his fevered brain it was too much.

He looked round more, he could see no way out, he could see no way of beating their captors. Forever and a day they would be traped here or until they did what their captors wanted.

Salene scoffed and huffed when he refused, but she wouldn't let it go. "Fine, let yourself get an infection and die, Bray, or is that what you want? To leave me here?" Salene zoned out after that, she was feeling irrational and her mind was running away with her. Thoughts ran through her mind at a quick pace, so fast it made her head veritably spin. The bits and pieces she was able to pick out confused her, and she felt dizzy, why did she feel dizzy? She jumped as the guards talked to each other and slammed the other door shut, the words they'd said hadn't made sense, they'd sounded like garbled foreign sounds.

Salene crawled into the bed and pulled the blanket up around her, curling up into a fetal position and hugging her body. She had chills, ugh it was getting cold in here again, she hated that damn cold vent, but at least it was less severe. Salene frowned, she wanted to cry but no tears would come. Her heart ached for Mouse, to hold her and hug her and read with her and yell at her and forbid her from leaving the Mall, anything at all would do now. She missed Pride with a fire passion, and she felt as if he was having problems, assuming he was missing her as much as she was he, that he was pining for her, worried for her, scared for her, she knew he was probably looking for her. She wished more than anything that Pride could find them now, in their own private hell, and save them both, take them home, take her home and make everything ok again. Everything.

She was right, he was doing exactly that. He didn't see any point anymore. If they were going to be trapped here he wasn't going to play their game. Either someone would come and rescue them, or not. He wasn't going to waste any more hope trying, he wasn't going to play their mind games.

He rested his back against the wall, then slid down it. He was cold and tired, and no longer cared about the bed or warmth. He rested his head back and started to drift off.
