Salene - Where Is She?

Nov 01, 2003 22:32

Salene opened her eyes, but the room she was in was dark, and the sound of water dripping nearby made it darker, wetter, and certainly colder. Her head was throbbing, but she didn't know why, or where she was. She tried to sit up, the aching in her head made every movement ten times more painful, and she felt as if she would throw up. Laying still made it stop, made it all go away, but, where was she? What had happened? She lay there, trying to remember the last thing she'd been doing, and her mind flashed to Siva and Amber, talking about the militia. A noise, screaming voices, scared yelps, what Salene thought was Mouse, and Siva and Amber had left to investigate, but, what had happened to Salene? She cringed as a wave of nausea and incredible pain washed through her brain and she tried as hard as she could to get it all to stop, her heart racing, pounding, the blood beating through her veins.

She got a handle on the headache and reached a hand up to touch her head where it hurt the most and was shocked to feel wetness. Was this water? No, it was stickier, but it was pitch black in here, so she sniffed then gently tasted her finger tips and was horrified to find that it was blood, her blood, from the amount of pain she was feeling she could tell she had a head injury. Ugh, and she couldn't move either, but the area felt like a small one, so maybe they hadn't beaten her up too badly. But who? And why? She tried to force herself to remember what had happened, after Siva and Amber had run out and Salene had rushed around her desk, but it was all blank from there, and she didn't remember any of it. Why? Trying to figure out who and what and why right now made the pain in her head unbearable, there were lots of people out there that wanted her gone, the Techno's, the Vidheads, Ebony, and countless others. How had someone gotten into the mall? How had they come in, snuck past everyone and how had they gotten her out in the end? Salene knew she wasn't in the Mall, she was in some dark damp room somewhere, not a sound could be heard except for the water dripping.

All felt lost, would anyone be able to find her? Did anyone even realize she was gone? What had the screaming been about? Was her whole tribe wiped out? Was this the end of the war? Would she die here, cold, alone, hurt? She felt the warm slippery tears slide down her face from her eyes, and though this didn't make her head feel any better, it did help to release some of the pent up emotion, and her heart ached for her family, her Tribe, and most of all, for Pride.
