Salene continued to sit there on the cold hard floor under the door, under the place light had just come, light and warnings of her future. Her knees were pulled up to her chest, her elbows resting on them, her hands over her ears. She was rocking back and forth, her head hurt, and again the sounds were coming at her, only this time, it wasn't just laughing and giggling and yelling and familiar voices. Now she felt as if she had on a Paradise helmet, and instead of just whispers and noises, now it was entire moments of her life, flashing before her eyes, unfolding in her mind, complete conversations flowing through her. It was like watching a movie, some of it good, some of it bad, all of it made her sad. She was no longer crying, just rocking back and forth, trying to hum over the noise and failing miserably.
Suddenly, without warning, it stopped. It faded away and Salene paused mid-rock, looking around her. When she saw nothing in the darkness she heaved a deep sigh of relief. Now she felt wired, full of energy, as if she could run laps around the room. Being cooped up in here didn't help, but running around in the dark would be dangerous, if not stupid. Salene rubbed at her temples, thinking, her eyes throbbing like a headache, how was she going to get out of this? How would she escape tomorrow, instead of die at the hands of these people? She needed a plan of action..if only she knew where she was, she'd have a clearer plan.
It dawned on her then that Bray was still down here with her, Bray who she told she'd believe him if he said he wasn't Zoot, but had begun to wonder again if it was true or not. Now was not the time to think of such things, "What are you thinking?" she asked simply, sitting completely still as she waited for his answer.
