"Come on. We just look inside, take anything of value, and leave. Simple, clean, easy." The wiry man looked up at his tall companion, whose face was covered in nervousness.
"But what about what the townspeople said?" He replied, wringing his hands.
"That it's full of folk that aren't even human and is always crowded? Come on, look at the place. The windows are dark, and there is not a peep from anywhere. Not even any mounts in the stables. It's deserted."
"It's just an old tavern though. Surely not anything of value..."
"Come on you coward. Just a quick run through, and we'll be done." The wirey man strode towards the old building, followed a step behind by his anxious companion.
"Did you hear that?"
"Hear what?"
"That hissing sound." The first man rolled his eyes.
"You are such a kid. It's nothing, just the wind."
"Isn't that what everyone says right befo-" A scream loud enough to break eardrums emitted from the wirey man as he was lifted off the ground, hands grasping his arms and legs. There was the sound of a snakes body moving across the ground as the Naga whipped him in the air, tounge shooting out of her mouth in a horrible hiss. Her fangs nipped at the man's skin, tearing clothing without trouble.
The smell of fresh urine was caught on the breeze as the man's companion fell to the ground, trying to crawl away from the horrible sight in front of him. He was broadsided by the end of the naga's tail, knocking him to his back. He screamed too, as his companion went flying into the brush. The snake woman reared back like a cobra about to spit, tail lashing as the moonlight glinted off her canines.
"RUN!" Screeched the wirey man, untangling himself from the bush which had caught his fall and darting off into the woods. The bigger man, slowed only slightly by his soaked pants, followed. They could be heard crashing through the brush in wild panic.
"What was that for?" Questioned the brunette elf who was leaning againt the back door of the tavern, watching the whole scene with amusment. The Naga grinned, moving to the table that was only a few feet from where the men had been.
"They were too close to my pies." She lifted the tray of steaming pies, her extra hands tying a cloth back around her ebony hair. The elf giggled as they re-entered the kitchen.
