Reading too many a post by the Guns'n'Handcuffs people had got me thinking: Were the so-called H/D subtext (otherwisely known as text that can easily be taken out of context) purely unintentional ( Read more... )

Harry's having feelings for Draco (he just hasn't realized it yet) even when he's dating Ginny

Hee. You've gotta love Maya's point that he goes from slashing Draco to making out with Ginny. Even minus the slash-tinted glasses, it kind of implies Harry's aroused by violence. Of course, he's such a little sadist, who'd be surprised?

Shhhhh. You'd want to keep that disrespectful thought about our hero from those who'd very much enjoy using violence on you for it ;-P

The way that bathroom scene was done was very, very sensuous- one of the most in the series in fact. I especially love how Draco's blood in the water were described as like crimson flowers- must be the sucker for sappy, tragic-feeling romance in me taking notice. If we learn in the next book that Harry left a scar or two on Draco's chest I might die from morbid excitement X-D

I loved the bathroom scene, too. I think it was my favourite chapter, ever. *hides from all the 'Spinner's End' fans*
And such an intimate setting! (Um, Harry, word to the wise, you might not always find other boys crying in there next time if you insist on barging in on them.)

But I don't want Draco scarred. :( *is sap*

*am a Spinner's End fan*

Funnily we got a Malfoy (or a Black, hey I actually prefer to think of them as members of the Black) crying in both chapters, though ;-)

But I don't want Draco scarred.

Are you absolutely sure? Think of it as their own little secret, which could lead to a huge variety of bedroom kinks...... *attempts to corrupt*

I like Spinner's End! I just don't like it OMG TEH BESTEST EVAR11!!1
Narcissa's cool, though, and any chapter that points out Harry's mediocrity has my vote.

But my poor baby! He probably already has a hippogryff scar. He doesn't need any more! WOE.

What's with these evil animal and man trying to mar my baby's perfect skin indeed. Ah, I see you're feeling uncharacteristically maternal today, I shall tempt you with a BDSM H/D involving teh Scar when it gets written then :P

Oh Spinner's End definitely hasn't reached the OMG THIS IS LIEK, BETTER THAN SEX WHOA!!! sort of level for me either, just on a whole it was really neat :)

Heh, it is rather uncharacteristic of me!
I wouldn't mind BDSM H/D, but I do get tired of the endless 'Harry tops everyone in the world ever, cause he's so liek macho and angry, then Draco weeps bitter tears of self-loathing and begs Harry to screw him, then Harry does and kicks him in the face'. Hopefully it's a dying phenemenon from OotP.

I like Snape and all, but I'm curiously unmoved by him. I feel like an oddity, everyone else adores him! :(

Oh, I do think (or hope) the Harry-topping-everyone-and-their-grandpa genre will slowly die out, especially after the much sedated HBP Harry. Especially no one will make pathetic/bagging like the worm he is/bottom of bottom Draco anymore...... er, that is, if not too many people took the bathroom scene totally the wrong way and... *shudders at the thought*

So when did this symptom of Snape-unmoving-ness start? Did you consult a doctor or take medicine? Be sure not to wipe your germs on me, you FREAK! Hahaha, nah, I love the guy, but my journal should be a clear evidence of who I adore more ;-)

Oh, I'm sure Harry tops Voldemort. And Dumbledore. And he makes even Bellatrix squeal. *rolls eyes*

I'm afraid they've always been there. May be a terminal disease.
Doesn't help that some of his fans are frigging batshit, and have the whole OMG U CAN ONLY LIEK ONE SLYTHERIN thing (which, despite all the insanity I'm sure we Draco fen have too, is something pretty cool - we don't have the 'If you like Draco, you can't like Snape/Harry' bit.) And that I don't find m/any of the adult generation very interesting (I like Narcissa, and Peter Pettigrew, but that's probably about it.) And that I find him a wee bit, dare I say, predictable, in that his basic arc: people think he's bad, but he's good - is laid out in the very first book. Oh, and he has few if any emotional connections to people that aren't negative, so it's hard to get a feel for him. For me, anyway. Mainly I think it's that I'm stubborn, probably, though: if fandom hated him, maybe I'd warm to him ( ... )

I think he's funny, though, and I'm fascinated by his relationship with Draco.

I'm with you. I think Snape's interesting but mostly as it involves Draco (not in a romantic sense) and the Malfoy/Blacks.

I'm always amazed that so many people can and do defend him while vilifying Draco.

Yeah, isn't there room to like them both?
But it's amusing to hear 'Snape is much more mature!' Um, firstly, as I said, I like the guy, but mature? Really? And secondly, he does have what, thirty years on Draco? That's like saying Dumbledore is much more mature than Harry. Plus, they seemed pretty damn similiar in the Pensieve flashback - Snape liked the Dark Arts, had a gang, was small and pale, and got into fights with Potters.
I think people may just bring up comparisons because Snape's a much more obvious 'victim' - he's poorer, apparently, and got bullied.
But really, who wants Snape fen who only like him because they were bullied or whatever? Stop being on my side, you're making it look stupid, and all that.

Doesn't help that some of his fans are frigging batshit, and have the whole OMG U CAN ONLY LIEK ONE SLYTHERIN thingI still feel bitter, thinking back to the painful conversations (?) I had with Snape fanatics who got this hate-on for Draco (though they somehow prefer saying they don't care about him one way or another- hard to believe when they can write a long paragraph dissing this cowardly, worthless little twerp/toadstool/what-have-you in minutes). Probably because I naively thought they'd be some kind of ally, sharing a liking for the Slytherin folks. But no, for them ( ... )

Yeah, I love that. 'I am so uninvolved that I read long detailed fics about the rape of said characters I couldn't care less about' as one of the more memorably batshit ones might put it.
There are characters I dislike, but I don't mind saying I'm fascinated to discuss their flaws, at least. And there are ones I find genuinely uninteresting, like Sirius and Remus, and then I'll only bring them up in say, a chapter read. Not reading fics and meta about them or going 'OMG, I must constantly remind all of fandom how they really should be discussing people I like, catering to my wishes only and not wasting their time on boring old MWPP, and Sirius was just like my high school bully, wah wah wah.'

Snape most likely is only terrorizing his students for their own good (toughen them up etc)

Maybe that's what the Dursleys are doing with Harry? ;)

Oh, totally! And they should give poor ol' Dumbly a break for letting Harry grow up in the Dursley's abusive home environment, since, hey, someone else's tough love should be equally admirable!

I'm sure they'll just switch focus and start rambling about what they were right about, though.

Yup. Like they had always been right about Draco being a coward- see crying and not being able to AK Dumbly for evidence. The more sane ones would leave Draco along, and just concentrate on how Snape clearly is still all good and shinny.

Though I might generally agree with them on Snape (except for the part where I don't see his faults as non-faults, just faults that amuse/appeal to me nevertheless or simply do not bother me too much), it gives me great pleasure to stand around and see them attacked by Snape haters (who I generally disagree with) from every direction. You see why Snape and Draco appeal to me sooooooo much now? I am as petty as petty can get ;-)

Oh, I'm sure they can forgive old Dumbly. After all, he trusts Snape! Sadly, he also trusts Draco, but obviously...um...he...must have gotten poisoned by the evil Riddle water! Oh, look, over there! A flying pig! *wipes neck* Phew, that was a close one.

Yes, I almost welcome Snape haters now, even though they'll undoubtedly also hate Draco; just for the variety.
