HBP predictions and such
You all know about the HPB prediction contest thing that's been going on in HPFGU? I've given it some thoughts but for most of the questions I really have no solid idea (some of them I don't care enough to even form an opinion on). So instead of trying to come up with predictions I'm actually just gonna talk about it a bit:
Compulsory Questions (0-5 points each):
1. Who will be the most major character to die?
- I know I said in one old entry that my gut feeling told me Dumbledore would still be alive by the end of book 7, and unsurprisingly no one agreed with me on that ;) And yes, there would be many valid reasons for him to die in this book, he being very old with declining health/ mentors always die so hero can go on and fight the battle on his own/ he's that important to Harry and a powerful presence in WW, so his death would be significant and impactful. Um, I can't argue against any of these, only there'll be very little surprise if Dumbledore snuffs it in HBP... Maybe he'll be paralyzed (only to recover at the end of book 7 to deliver his end-of-year preach)?
- As much as I'd love it, I just don't feel that Hagrid will die. Firstly he's never been much use to anyone from the beginning, so there's no real loss plot-wise if he dies. And though his death would be emotional on Harry's part, there'll be too much overlap with Sirius's death in the previous book.
- The ones I think have a higher degree of likelihood to die: Percy and Neville. Mostly because of the sort of plots and impacts their death could create.
2. Who is the Half-Blood Prince? (If "The Old Lion Guy," describe more.)
- I think and hope it's gonna be a new character! Can't think of any current character who gives out a "prince-ish" vibe or has hints about his royal (?) status. So yup "The Old Lion Guy"- how the heck can I describe more???
3. What is Lily's big secret? (This question will be eliminated and full credit given to everyone if no big secret is revealed.)
- That Harry was really Snape's son ;P? Nah, absolutely no idea.
4. Who will be the new DADA teacher?
- Again, The Old Lion Guy. Muhaha.
5. With whom will Harry have a romantic relationship?
- No one. Wait has JKR said he's gonna have one in HBP?
- ETA(corrected by adela dear): Parvati then. Mostly because I don't give a damn whoever he'll be with- unless if it's gonna be a male or non-human, which'll at least be interesting.
6. Who will be the new Minister of Magic?
- I am sorry, am a bad fan- how come I don't remember Fudge getting sacked in OOTP or Rowling saying there would be a new MOM? Please point me to the canon reference or Rowling interview answer those who know...
- ETA(corrected by adela dear again ;p): I'll go with Amelia Bones like the rest of the fandom... It's time for a female MOM, and of course she'd have to be a Dumbledore supporter *eyeroll*
7. What is that bowl-thing on the green U.S. HBP cover?
Dumbledore's pensieve?
8. Will Harry take Advanced Potions?
Yeah.
9. Will Neville take Advanced Potions?
No?
10. How many OWLs did Harry get?
Enough for him to continue his Auror career path. So how many does he need to do that?

1. It would be revealed that Salazar Slytherin did not leave behind the basilisk to "purge Hogwarts of unworthy students", but to protect the school from possible attacks. It's my pet theory, damnit!
2. Percy would reunite with his family, through death or no.
3. Draco would be involved with certain DE/Voldemort business, either at Lucius's command or in order to save Lucius.
4. Hermione would be taken down a notch or two because of a major mistake she makes.
5. The new DADA teacher won't stay for a second term- haha is this cheating?
