Or else nothing. By the time I realize that a book really isn't what I'd have wanted to read had I known its content, I most likely would've already bought it anyway. I also doubt ranting relentlessly in my own LJ would somehow bring revenge upon the author- not that I intend to harm people for writing things I wish I did not read- just saying

Anyway READ Swordspoint! It is so awesome, and I know that you will fall in love the snarky and tragic Alec, just like I did. It was actually just re-released a year or two ago with some additional short stories added! *sigh* Its one of those books that I just read over and over and over again and never get sick of it!
'The Fall of Kings' actually takes place a number of years later, and one of the characters that it is centered around is Alec's son. The writing style wasn't as captivating as Swordspoint, but the man sex was a little more detailed, so since I'm shallow like that, that kept me going. The story itself is pretty interesting, and I was enjoying it, and I was really liking the relationship between the two main characters. I mean, they were no Richard and Alec from Swordspoint (go read that book NOW NOW NOW), but they had their own charm. And then guess what happens. One of them DIES. IT WAS SO STUPID. Thus, the book tossing.

and call me naive, but I did not see that one coming.
I don't think anyone did see that coming. Although maybe because I did not like Sirius until after OOTP, I was more amazed (at Rowling's "bravery" to kill off such a well-loved character) than anything when reading the death scene. (sorry!)
Okay I'll go read Swordspoint!! And I'll write a lengthy, incoherently passionate mumbo jumbo review afterwards if I do fall in love with it :)
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh THANKS, I am not reading The Fall of Kings unless the character death was very muchly justified then. It doesn't sound like (the death being justfied) if it has pissed you off so royally. I don't like the tragedy-for-tradedy's-sake kind of books!

I really have a thing for the grown ups of HP. I'm set in my love of Snape for so many different reasons. I like him because he's so damn complicated. I think that he's a better man then he wants to be, rather than the other way around, and I find that fascinating. (btw, I think I stole that last thought from a fan fic, hehe.) I also love Lupin and Sirius, because like Snape, they are just so tragic, and I am very much drawn to that. Its one of the reasons I like Harry so much, not to mention your boy, Draco! Um, I guess those are really my favorites. One day, when I'm not so tired, I'll do a respectable and coherent HP post. ^_^

Destiny's children? Yeah that's a neat idea :)

I think you really have described Snape in a nutshell! And being a better man than wanting to be really makes him stand out, from the HP crowds who are actually lesser persons than they consider themselves to be...

So you think Draco is tragic :)? I'm really really looking forward to your HP post!
