Seriously, I think that it's the result of my upbringing. No one in my family or friends believes in God (with very small exceptions), so I don't, too. You aren't born religious, you get raised to believe/not believe.

I've also come across people who pretty much use religion as a form of group therapy. And in Asia some deem religion to be some sort of 'insurace'- you know the "what if there's a god and I'm being put at a disadvantage by not praying?" mentality. I've read an article that said Chinese people are more 'practical' when it comes to religion- they want a god that helps :P
