plans keep changing. only slightly now, but still changing.

it looks like i will make a stop over in paris before i go to barcelona. days will be full.

we made it to edinburgh yesterday. edinburgh. faith and i kept marveling over the movie 'trainspotting' here. my favorite movie. so i looked it up.
trainspotting was set in edinburgh. it was filmed in edinburgh and glasgow. the scenice location was filmed north of glasgow. when you see the movie and then visit these cities, it is obvious. edinburgh is probably my favorite city so far. it is built right by the coast, but it is still a large city. there are many castles and ruined scattered all over. while it is a bit touristy, it is not as bad as amsterdam. wile it is the city, one can walk a short distance and see great hills and chapel ruins. we tried to find the coast yesterday and wound up finding a large park. across a road on the edge of the park was a lake with dozens of swans, and a few geese and ducks. it was amusing to watch swans on land; they are not as graceful as one might think. faith wanted to touch or pet them, but i warned her that they would probably bit, and that their bites are quite tough. ruins from a chapel were on a hill not too far fom the lake, but quite a steep journey. we climbed the hill and found ourself overlooking most of edinburgh.
my friends, if you make a travel to scotland you must go to edinburgh.
i desperatly wished the school in glasgow was located here. there is a school of art here. i took a look. it really wasnt my kind of thing. mainly design and archetecture.
right now i am typing at a little cafe that the first harry potter book was at least partially written in.
when we have used up our internet time we will take a train to glasgow and then take a train to the airport. from there is rome. then milan. then venice. i will probaby have very full days and see too much art. the venice bienale will fill my head.
in paris i will find sartre's grave. i finished reading nausea. i buy too many books when i travel. i buy them like postcards and now i write in the back the citied where they were bought and read and finished. never the dates, just the cities. i bought a 500 page book in amsterdam; i finished it yesterday.
and here i am in scotland. and there you are in america. and somewhere in between is miles and miles of sea.
