My grandmother's first husband (my mom's dad) was an abusive alcoholic. Needless to say, they got divorced after having 5 kids together.
Her second husband, Conrad, was sweet to her. They were happy and together for years, until he passed away in 2003. She was devastated. She has been incredibly lonely ever since.
Last year, she started seeing a guy named Butch (really it's Antone). Butch is super cute. He's nice to her, he is nice to all of us, he really cares about her. Recently they started talking about moving in together.
Yesterday, my grandmother called my mom and she was absolutely bawling. Right away, my mom though something was wrong. As it turns out, the sale was finalized, and my Grandma Charleen and her man Butch officially bought a house together. She was so happy that she was sobbing. Today she is out with Butch picking out paint chips, and they are both 70 years old (I think).
I dunno, I just think that it's really cute that after all this time she is happy. I wanted to post this just because it is a happy story and I hope it makes someone smile (even if it's just at the crazy names in my family). And also, if you are of the "no one will ever love me" mentality, just think-- if a 78 year old woman can find this much happiness, so can you. I am a firm believer that there is someone for everyone.
