The visit to Dakota to check on Callie went better than I hoped. Virgil and Richie were a big help and I managed to avoid freaking Callie out too much.

We were still there when she stopped for a break, so she came and joined us for a chat. She told me as much as she could about what's happened to her since I got pulled from Gotham Heights High, while I told her a little about life at Brentwood and Louis E Grieve. Richie was extremely amused at the idea of my going to a private school.

Naturally I couldn't resist boasting a little about being an Uncle and showed everyone a picture of Mary. Callie was a little confused, as she remembered me being an only child and that Dana didn't have any kids.

"It's more of an 'honorary uncle' thing," I told her, "I have some real good friends I consider family."

Virgil looked at the picture quite carefully, I could tell he was trying to work out just who Mary's parents are.

"Hey, isn't that Commisioner Gordon's daughter?" Callie commented, "I read in the paper she married Bruce Wayne's son." She grinned then, "He's cute!"

I chuckled, while Virgil and Richie exchanged shocked looks. I could almost hear the penny drop. Virgil's known Batman's secret identity for a while now, ever since they ended up working together to help a Bang Baby who ran away to Gotham.

"I never knew Wayne had kids?" said Virgil. I nodded and explained that he raised Dick since he was very small and had recently adopted him. I left it up to Callie to decide for herself which of the two I had become such good friends with.

After a while we left Callie to get on with her job and the boys showed me around Dakota City a little. They were disappointed when I declined the offer of a quick patrol.

"I'm supposed to be an 'Urban Legend'," I told them apologetically, "I really shouldn't be seen in daylight where possible, or he'll get mad."

Both of them shivered at the thought of an angry Batman, which made me chuckle. I'm always amused by the reaction other people have to even the mere mention of him - that's power, right there. Wonder if I'll ever have that.
