This mix has been on the go for about a year. It started with Black Magic Woman and then stalled for a long time. It may feel a little disjoined as there are several styles of music in here, but I think that fits the character, someone who inhabits two societies in many ways, and who can't always bridge the gap between them.
I hope you enjoy it, and I hope that my comments make some sense.

Santana - Black Magic WomanYes, don't turn your back on me baby / Stop messin' 'round with your tricks
This is the dangerous and unpredictable side of Teyla, and the side that's associated with the Wraith. Weir and Sheppard are always warning her against using her link to the hives, and for good reason.
David Bowie - Rebel RebelThey put you down, they say I'm wrong
Bate's distrust of her in Season 1. The outsider and the potential threat, and that was before they even found out about her Wraith DNA.
The Eagles - Hotel California And still those voices are calling from far away / Wake you up in the middle of the night / Just to hear them say...
For me, this song isn't necessarily in here for the lyrics, although they do fit. It's here for the feel of the song. It's a dischord, it's the Wraith intruding into her dreams and her life in an even bigger way than they had done in the past.
Green Day - She's a RebelMissing link on the brink / Of destruction
Ok, this is a bit of a cheat. Ages and ages ago, when I was first getting into the fandom, someone, I think
sinden did a Teyla vid to this song, and it has stuck with me as my ultimate Teyla song ever since. It's her fight and her drive and the way that other people look at her, especially in season 1 down to a t.
Meredith Brooks - Bitch Must have been relieved to see / The softer side / I can understand how you'd be so confused
This is another of the tracks that started this mix, although I'll admit that I'l put it on a Weir mix if I ever make one, because it fits them both so well. Teyla's always been one of the boys on Atlantis, but by season 2 we see a softer more feminine side when she's faced with the death of an old friend and she begins to relax and not constantly have to prove herself. This doesn't mean that she isn't still stubborn as a mule though.
Anberlin - Audrey, Start the Revolution! You can be what you can conceive / Read letters, kill your disbelief.
It's Teyla who understands the threat that the Wraith pose, and it's her loyalty to her people that has the Atlantis team chasing after them in the first place. It's her belief that they can win this that keeps them pressing forward.
Electric Light Orchestra - Sweet Talkin' WomanYou gotta slow down sweet talkin' woman / You got me runnin' you got me searchin'.
Teyla is for the most part, laid back and unhurried, but when she needs to, she puts a fire under the backsides of the other members of her team. She understands that when something needs to be done, it needs to be done now, and not in five minutes.
Queen - Hammer to FallFor we who grew up tall and proud / In the shadow of the mushroom cloud
The one who's lived under the shadow of the Wraith, yet hasn't lost hope. Teyla's strong and will remain so.
