Reflecting on 2009
So I haven't written an entry since February 2009. I told myself that I was going to write more but of course that failed. So instead I'll just do a wrap up of what's happened since February.
Relationships. Last time I posted I was dating Ariel which I was skeptical on how long that would last. Well, it didn't last much longer. We continued to casually date until April. In April I re-met Gary on Facebook. I had noticed a “Gary” commenting on my friends' facebook posts so I messaged him and told him we should be friends since we already have mutual friends. My messaging him was a completely random act. Then once facebook friends we started chatting on fb chat. After one conversation I realized that I already knew this “Gary”. I had met him through Michael Kreitman a couple of years back when they use to be roommates. I use to place this purple vacuum in front of his bedroom door to mess with him. Now Gary says that that was my way of courting him back then. Hahaha. So after realizing who he was we started hanging out a lot and eventually that turned into a relationship. I haven't had a serious relationship in years mainly because I never desired one and because I was still hung up on an ex. Well, glad to say that that's now in the past. I'm finally happy with Gary. I couldn't ask for anyone better. Those who know me from the past know that I was always unromantic /anti-love/cold towards relationships/etc but now I'm completely different and totally accept all those things. Some of you are even grossed out by my outwardly and abundant display of affection these days. I'm so happy in my relationship and with the way things are. I'm the luckiest girl the world to be with the greatest guy.
School. Things were looking up since I met Gary. In my last post I wrote about how I was depressed and in funky states a lot back in 2008 but in 2009 I haven't felt one day of depression. I also haven't felt anxious, which I use to feel a lot in the past. Things are starting to fall into place. After graduating college I just sort of lingered and floated along. This year I decided to go back to school and get my career-on. I'm starting school next week and I'll be going for Nursing. I have a degree in Sociology already so I just need a few prerequisites so I can apply for the Nursing program in August. I confident in my decision to pursue nursing and excited to get the ball rolling.
Travel. If you know me well you know that I love to travel. It is my passion and something I see myself doing a lot of for the rest of my life. I've visited many places, been to four continents and I continue to have a desire to see much more of the world. Traveling is one of the most refreshing hobbies I have. I love learning about different cultures, food, societies, people, etc. This year I visited England and Wales. Justin and I took a road trip around both countries. Though it was a short trip we saw a lot and did a lot. Seeing the castles and staying in bed and breakfasts was my favorite part. I also went to Boston earlier this year and just got back from Chicago yesterday. Gary and I plan on going to Peru and seeing Machu Picchu in 2010.
Friends. What a year for friends! I've made some great ones and rekindled old friendships. I've had a lot of fun with so many people this year going to shows, traveling to Orlando, biking, hanging out, having an excellent Christmas with everyone, the list goes on. I love all my friends and I'm glad to have such wonderful people in my life. Some of my favorite moments in 2009:

*All the shows I went to this year: No Doubt, NIN, Animal Collective, Alkaline Trio, Gogoll Bordello, Cursive, The Good Life, Thursday, Fall of Troy, RATATAT.
*Halloween Horror nights with Kreitman, Kristen, and Gary.
*Halloween with everyone.
*Gorgefest with Dana and Beach Banana at Hollywood Beach.
*Taco night, Pancake night, Wolf, Cinco de Mayo, 7/11, Pants Party
*Dinner parties with Sieger. Kreitman, and Kristen.
*Chicago with Gary, Ashley, Penny, and Rico.
*Bike adventures with Tricia, Gary, Kreitman, Sieger, Raph (Fashion Mall garage, Pet cemetery, Plantation's midtown)
*Adventures with Hector.
*Watching All of Curb Your Enthusiam, Dexter, The Office with Gary.
*Receiving awesome xmas presents- Victoria Secret lingerie and body sprays, Authentic Swiss chocolates, Roku Netflix box, A Jug of Maple syrup, Book- How to Build a Robot Army, Animal menagerie, HP laptop, trip to Chicago to see The Good Life, Camelbak, Scarf, Sweater, socks, $50 Macy's gift card.
*Getting health insurance.
*Making it out a live from Gary's car crash(though his candied yams did not make it).
Overall it's been a great year but I feel that 2010 will be even better. Looking forward to having many more adventures with Gary and friends. Doing more traveling, doing well in school, enjoying another year with my wonderful pup Lia, achieving more goals. Goodbye 2009, Hello 2010!
