I could've had this up yesterday, but due to the antivirus system on the computer, it had prevented me from logging online; had to deactivate one of the systems in order to get back online today. Quite frustrating to hear, and a huge annoyance.
On the good news page, my day did go well yesterday up until the computer debacle-read Birds of Prey #92 and thought it was good-it was pleasing to see Dinah, even if her appearance did result in one shocking event I hadn't expected to see turn out the way it did! I picked up two comic books, then two magazines later on the same evening at Wal-Mart.
I made the newest icon for only one main reason-after checking at Newsarama, if I hadn't been sitting down, I probably would've attempted a backflip out of sheer joy and-dare I say it-pure Robin geekdom. Within less than one week, Robin #148 along with Batman #651 will be released. Case in Point:
http://www.newsarama.com/forums/showthread.php?s=05ad3cd351bf3ed81f885cb64c43425d&threadid=62993 The first four pages promised by Adam Beechen-new Robin writer-that were guaranteed to change Tim's life completely? True to his word. Also, the previously mentioned 6-part issue that would've spanned Robin #148 to Robin #153? Pushed down to a 4-part issue which ends with Robin #151.
My cleaning went decent enough-only had the right side of my mouth taken care of; will have to go in next Tuesday to get the left side of my mouth done. But, I'm certain it will be worth it come March 22nd.
Nightwing #118: One Year Later
This issue kicks off with a bang, and a new arc! (Oh, and concerning my header, it relates to what I mention about this book.)
As I had already surmised, as well as countless other people who chose to pick this issue up, Jason Todd is still alive after the following year, but isn't playing Robin. Nor is he targeting the current Boy Wonder. This time around, he seems to be after his predecessor, Nightwing. Both are in New York City for different reasons-Nightwing, to get his life back on track after what seems to be a failed engagement; Jason, to frame Dick for murders just to draw him out.
To shine a beacon of hope, when Dick was alone in his loft talking, I have a sneaking suspicion he was talking with Barbara, meaning there could very well be hope for them. However, I enjoyed Dick's encounter with the metahuman known as Barry-even if it may have cost him his hand. It was short, but it lead to Dick being saved-and getting face-to-face with one-time successor Jason Todd! Very eager to pick up #119 next month.
Teen Titans Annual #1
As evidenced in Infinite Crisis #5, I knew Luthor couldn't just enter into Titans Tower without getting some kind of damn welcoming committee! That confrontation was revealed in this book, when Robin and Wonder Girl faced him whilst Superboy was still recovering. (Though, I couldn't help but recognize Ed Benes' Wonder Girl artwork on a few pages-most noticably, 7 and 10.) Speedy and Beast Boy came in moments before he left. Thought the Robin/Wonder Girl moment prior to the Titans departing for the 'Haven was a nice touch.
To be honest, despite the moment with Superboy and Wonder Girl being revealed last week, when it actually came about, it seemed...either predictable, or not up to standard. Not sure how to accurately describe it. The moments leading up to it were pretty decent, and the aftermath-uncertain. Did enjoy the fact that while at Bludhaven, Robin's finally decided to take up leadership, which could lead to him becoming leader of the Titans come #34.
The only reason I can come up with Teen Titans #34 being pushed back until April 5th-the same day as Infinite Crisis #6-is because something major-possibly concerning Superboy-takes place in the latter issue, and had they released the former issue as planned, it would've been revealed in a big way. Quotes from aforementioned issues, by the way-parts I thought were well written.
