The children were invited at a birthday party hosted at the local My Gym and I was unbelievably impressed. The age range was from three to four and a half; the activities were age appropriate but "academic" (e.g. practiced counting from one to four); the activities alternated nicely with "free play time"; the equipment was varied and solid and cool; and the instructors were fun teachers to hang with. Each organized activity either started with or ended with reinforcing the central message of "we are here to celebrate the birthday girl [or boy]".

I haven't been to every little gym in town, and I haven't even been to the majority of the birthday parties, so filter my vote with that, but here's a good indicator of how impressive things were: On the way to the party, the older one was talking at length about her Arielle birthday party that she expects for her upcoming fifth. By the time we were leaving, she had changed her mind and wanted the party to be at My Gym.
