I had a bit of a detour in my quest to locate the slayer and the rest of those who disappeared from the party. A young man, Andrew, tracked me down at my motel and wants me to do some sort of magic for him, reverse a spell of some sort. He complained of losing his ability to do magic. Lovely. I told him I'd be happy to investigate the matter and ( Read more... )

Well. Isn't this nice? Who do I see comin' out of the post office but Ethan Rayne, the guy from the party. The guy who knifed Oz. I've dealt with enough bullshit lately, between everyone disappearin', Oz bein' hurt and the two nutbags who attacked me and Oz outside of B's, that I'm not in the mood for any more.

I start to follow him, smilin'. This should be fun.

The pertinent package in hand, I head back toward my motel. I have one more spell I can try before I'm going to have to turn to...well, there is always that bloody law firm in L.A. I know they'd have the resources, I'm just not sure I like thinking about what they'd want in return.

I turn a corner and notice the dark-haired young woman following me. She looks familiar--I'm certain she was at Buffy's gathering, which makes me quicken my pace. I'd rather avoid the whole lot of do-gooders until I have something solid I can tell them.

I've been spotted. I pick up my pace, catchin' up to him easily. "Hey," I say, smilin' a not very nice smile.

I glance at her. Young, quite er...nubile, and she's projecting an attitude that's almost palpable. I decide it's in my best interests not to even try to put one over on her.

"Hello," I reply, coming to a halt and tucking my package in an inner pocket of my coat. "I saw you at Miss Summers' party but I don't believe we've been introduced."

I stop there--she can tell me who she is first. No point in giving anything up if she doesn't know.

"Yeah, whatever." I wanna hit him, but I don't have a real good reason except just that he pissed me off. "You stabbed him with a silver knife. You know how fuckin' nasty that looked?" I glare at him. "I'm not kiddin'. Stay away from him."

I whirl around, resistin' the temptation to pound on him. I don't turn my back to him, though. Don't trust him that much.

Hmm, expected to be flat on my back by this time--I wonder what her game is.

I sigh, somewhat dramatically. "I really had no idea what effect silver has on a werewolf, having never encountered one before," I say, plucking the small dagger out of my pocket. "But really...does this look lethal to you?" I hold it out to her. "I hardly hoped it would stop him at all."

The last is no lie, I knew he'd backed off on his own, not because of the flesh wound. "I'm doing my best to find your friends, Faith, but I have to tell you, it's looking rather like they are no longer in this dimension."

"Tell me somethin' I don't know." Irritated, I slap the dagger out of his hand, watchin' it fall to the ground. "We know where they are. We just don't know how to get 'em back. Yet."

I blink. They know? Bloody nice of wolf-boy to fill me in while I'm doing spell after spell trying to figure it out!

I clear my throat. "Well, where the hell are they and why didn't anyone bother telling me? Oh, yes, because I'm the bad guy. Lovely, how much time have I wasted on these bloody spells? So where are they, pray tell?"

I smirk, just a little. He reminds me of myself when I really start gettin' my bitch on. Snarky. I kinda admire that. Long as he never lays a finger on my wolf again, we're five by five.

Wait... my wolf? Did I really just think that?

I distract myself by sayin', "Hey, knock yourself out. Everybody's researchin', but we haven't come up with exactly how to get 'em back here yet."

I raise a brow. Interesting...I think this may be a slayer I can negotiate with.

"Time travel is tricky. It will take some looking into--I don't suppose anyone could get me access to Ripper's books? Or perhaps the library at the Magic Box? I seem to recall several volumes that had some reference to time magicks that might be helpful." Not to mention I recall seeing some Wicca references, and those might help me release the coven's binding on Andrew. Never hurts to kill two birds with one stone.

I shift, switchin' feet, proppin' my other one against the wall. "We can't get to most of the books ourselves. Can't get into the shop."

I'm not so sure it's a good idea to let him go pokin' around in the Magic Box anyway.

I shrug nonchalantly to hide my disappointment. "A pity. I'll have to find other resources, then, I suppose." Damn, it was quite annoying that both proprieters of the shop had been zapped away.

I take the package back out of my coat. "Some rather special herbs arrived today that will help with my inquiries, but they really ought to be refrigerated. Did you have any more...er, bones to pick?"
