Happy month of march, everyone.
I'm getting verrrrrrry annoyed at my keyboard/computer today. I hate these stupid touch-mouse pads that make your writing screw up every ten seconds. so if I have a million and a half typos, please forgive me and come smash my computer for me and give me another one. thank you.
So...Dan and I had a major fight last night about religion. It's a diffrence between us, I know, that our faiths differ, but we usually manage to find common ground. I told him that some of the old testement may or may not be true, which is shocking to those who grew up believing otherwise. After all, when you've spent your entire childhood singing "The Lord told Noah to build him an arky-arky" it's hard to accept that the arky-arky may not have existed. However, the bible is really just collected writings, and people have been telling fariy tales to explain the world's mysteries for a long, long time...why couldn't these people? Mosas was the author of Genesis, where a lot of these stories are found, and he was in charge of an entire nation, he had to explain to and entire nation how God created the world and such. Jesus used untrue stories to help his people better understand him, why couldn't mosas? I'm not saying these stories are definetely not true, I'm just saying they may not be. Dan freaked out when he heard this. He said the bible was God's direct words and all that jazz, but that's not nessecarily true either. As I said before, the bible was just a collection of writings found duing that time; stories, letters, law books, history...it's just not practical to assume that God's thunderous voice shook the room where a scribe wrote everything down, like we were all taught in Sunday school. What I said in the end was, I DON'T REALLY CARE if they're true or not, because we still benefit from the same lessons of the old testement.
Dan called me narrow-minded, and I told him I couldn't talk to him any more tonight. He was getting very upset and interrogating me, but I was calm and collected. I think he wanted me to be more angry so he could be angry back. we hung up after that, but he called about 5 minutes later to say sorry, and we made up.
Anyway, onto a not-so-heavy-subject. I found out the other day that one of my guy friends had a crush on me for a while in high school. It's always strange to find out these things, isn't it? all that time, I thought he was just a flirt....
We've got A LOT of snow up here. inches and inches. School, of course, is not cancelled, because these Bethany nazis make sure it's never cancelled, but oh well. most students live on campus, anyway. It would just be nice not to go out today, but alas, I have choir now. time to go now.
