I did a lot of my Christmas shopping today. My mom is almost taken care of. And I have one gift for my sister. (I know, it sounds pathetic, but I don't get gifts for that many people anymore. Even if I get them I'll probably forget to actually give them away. Although maybe I should get something for Nicole...)
I also picked up some more Christmas decorations. Then I went to pay the water bill and on the way back from that, poor Yeti blew a tire. (Yeti is my care in case you didn't know.) So I pulled over into a parking lot and did what I could and six to eight men walked by me without even a second glance. (I told Megan fifteen, but as she knows, I hope, I am prone to hyperbole. If you didn't know, Megan, now you do. I am prone to hyperbole.) It is true, I believe. Chivalry is dead. Or boys are jerks, one of the two.
So I got my crap spare tire on and drove to Wal*Mart but missed the 3 o'clock showing of Beowulf. It's okay though, cause we just went to the 5 o'clock. *shrug*
I couldn't sleep, so I was reading a few reviews to Beowulf, just to see what other people had to say.
It's like they didn't pay attention the four times they were forced to read it in college and high schoolYes, the movie was filled with gore. Welcome to tales of the Northmen. If they could be said to enjoy a few things they were drinking and killing other people. It's (at the very least) a part of the tradition that surrounds it.
Now as far as plot goes, that's going to be left up to the individual. I quite like the fact that Beowulf was weakened by pride and greed at the beginning but got over it and redeemed himself as an old man. Also, he cut his own arm off to save his love. That's my kind of romantic gesture, I'm just saying. Anyway, some people will find the plot lacking.
The graphics are good but not awe inspiring and just awkward enough to make you cringe in places. And I could definitely detect some Gaiman here and there. Yay.
