Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond is ALWAYS looking for nude models for their figure drawing classes (the whole semester) and intermediate/advanced painting (a couple of weeks the second half of the semester). I think it pays like $13-$15/hr. and they do 3 hour sessions. Its only like a 45 minute drive from new orleans or baton rouge. It would be twice a week... $90.00 a week ain't bad for a small commute... also, the annonymity (sp) of being in another town could also be worth something.
Classes will not start until August, but I would really appreciate it if the Figure drawing class has a model on the first day of class. If they do, this will be a first since i have been at Southeastern, and thats been nearly 7 years. It usually takes them like 3 or 4 weeks to find a model. That is a quarter of the semester gone. Thats a lot of wasted time.
*note: I am not in the class. I have aleady taken it. I am, however, the Visual Arts Society's Vice President, and i like to see good things happen for the department. Being a small school, it is hard to find people willing to model. Having taken the class, I know that there is certainly an atmosphere of respect maintained in the classroom.
the contact info is:
phone: 985.549.2193
the head of the departments name is Dennis Sziporski (pronounced zih-por-skee)
my name is Rob Fairburn (though that is not important, it just seems like it would be a less awkward introduction to the phone call if you know someones name, ya know. To me, "Hey, Rob Fairburn told me that you guys were looking for a model for the figure drawing class," is way easier than,"Hey, uh, do you guys, uh, need models for anything.)
