or sit at home,
by the phone, and wait
and lose some sleep over why you didn’t call
and try to forget why I liked u at all

id have a reason to listen to our song
every day, many times played,
with me singing along
and the radio would break and we’d call it a sign
that we should break up and not waste our time

id have a reason to keep a little box
with a notebook of letters,
your highschool sweater,
on the top of a shelf with combination locks
but the letters might get washed n the pocket of my jeans
and the sweater might get dirty and ripped at the seams
