Good Morning

Sep 07, 2004 12:24

So not much has been going on lately. I spend my days lounging around the house, reading, sleeping, listening to music. Im enjoying myself really :) But thats gonna have to end soon. I need to get a job. I just have to get my lazy ass up and apply.

Anyway, I bought 5 books the other day. wOoHoO!

-Beauty's Release by Anne Rice:
In the final volume of Anne Rice's deliciously tantalizing erotic trilogy, Beauty's adventures on the dark side of sexuality make her the bound captive of an Eastern Sultan and a prisoner in the exotic confines of the harem. As this voluptuous adult fairy tale moves toward conclusion, all Beauty's encounters with the myriad variations of sexual fantasy are presented in a sensuous, rich prose that intensifies the exquisite rendition of Love's secret world, and makes the Beauty series an incomparable study of erotica. In it, Anne Rice makes the forbidden side of passion a doorway into the hidden regions of the psyche and the heart.

*** I have all 3 books and they really are great... very S&M. soOper erotic. Not what you would call a romance novel. I dont like those***

Slave of my Thirst by Tom Holland:
A man of science and reason, Dr. John Eliot eagerly joined a top-secret mission to far-off Kalikshutra, to investigate a mysterious epidemic. He returned to London plagued by memories of a horrific disease that decimates body and soul...and shaken by its shrouded ties to vampire lore. But when an old friend goes missing, Eliot searches the city's dark underbelly--and finds his exotic, dangerous journey has only begun...
Accompanied by Bram Stoker--whose observations would emerge in his immortal novel, Dracula--Eliot encounters an irresistible temptation among the denizens of the night: the ravishing seductress Lilah. Gleaming with icy beauty, she will not rest until she has coaxed Eliot's most monstrous impulses into the open...and unleashed them on unsuspecting London.

***Havent read this one yet. However, I read his first novel, Lord of the Dead, and it was very good. I love the way he incorporates fact with fiction. A lot of his characters were actually living historic figures in a point of time.***

Liquor by Poppy Z. Brite:
New Orleans natives Rickey and G-man are lifetime friends and down-and-out line cooks desperate to make a quick buck. When Rickey concocts the idea of opening a restaurant in their alcohol-loving hometown where every dish packs a spirited punch, they know they're on their way to the bank. With some wheeling and dealing, a slew of great recipes, and a few lucky breaks, Rickey and G-man are soon on their way to opening Liquor, their very own restaurant. But first they need to pacify a local crank who doesn't want to see his neighborhood disturbed, sidestep Rickey's deranged ex-boss, rein in their big-mouth silent partner before he runs amok, and stay afloat in a sew of corruption in a town well known for its bottom feeders.
A manic, spicy romp through the kitchens, back alleys, dive bars, and drug deals of the country's most sublimely ridiculous city, author Poppy Z. Brite masterfully shakes equal parts ambition, scandal, file powder, cocaine, and murder, and serves Liquor straight up, with a twist.

***All her books are amazing. She is a very talented writer. I recommend reading her books. They're incredibly interesting. They definitely pull you in. She is one of my favorite authors. Havent read this one yet, but i know without a doubt that it will be nothing short of great.***

Body of Evidence by Patricia Cornwell:
A reclusive author, Beryl Madison finds no safe haven from months of menacing phone calls--or the tormented feeling that her every move is being watched. When the writer is found slain in her own home, Kay Scarpetta pieces together the intricate forensic evidence--while unwittingly edging closer to a killer waiting in the shadows.

All That Remains by Patricia Cornwell:
Dr. Kay Scarpetta is up against a serial killer who targets young lovers. Four couples have disappeared, only to turn up dead months afterward...Now a fifth pair is missing, and the mother of the girl is a powerhouse recently named by the president to head his war on drugs. Battling political pressure as well as a murder...

***Patricia Cornwell is another great author. Im slowly beginning to buy all her books, as ive already done with Anne Rice and Poppy Z. Brite.***
