who_otp drabble tag “So this is where we end,” the Ninth Doctor says as he examines his new surroundings. It might be all his years spent watching over humanity and hearing their stories about Heaven and Hell, but he can’t help being a bit dissapointed of how perfectly normal everything seems. For all he knows, he could be standing in the middle of the TARDIS library.
“You’ll get used to it,” the Eighth Doctor says, standing next to the Ninth Doctor, a cup of tea in his hands. “Please, have a seat.”
The Ninth Doctor accepts the tea and chooses a battered leather chair before his next question “Where are the others?”
“Around,” his host gestures towards a door the Ninth Doctor hadn’t noticed before. “So many rooms and an eternity to see them all. But they all come back here eventually. If only to bicker and have tea. No one will say it out loud but we appreciate each other's company. Of course, if you repeat this...”
“Your secret is safe with me,” the Ninth Doctor promises. The Eighth Doctor sits on a little velvet chair next to the Ninth Doctor and takes his hand, always concerned yet curious. “What happened?”
At first the Ninth Doctor hesitates, but who’s gonna understand it better than this one?
“There was a girl,” he says after a pause. “I saved her.” He gives his younger self a grin. “With a kiss.”
The Eighth Doctor can’t help but smile back.
