wave upon wave

i guess this week has been a little more hectic than i first anticipated and i'm still reeling a bit. firstly, tulane baseball was in the college world series which was so exciting. i loved watching them(three of the boys lived on my floor) and it was so cool to see them in the field and dugout chillin with the team. they lost to Univ. Texas but then went one more round against Baylor. i didn't catch the end of the game but in the 8th we were up 8 to 3 i think...apparently baylor made a huge comeback and beat us so i read the sad news this morning in a letter from the president of tulane. oh well---it was cool while it lasted.
second-my dog was pretty sick for two days and i spent 48 hours on edge as a result. she slept next to me two nights and we finally got her into the vet yesterday where me gave her some pain medication and told us a few good things. we're hopeful that she'll make a recovery but of course i've been a little down about it all. i can't stand seeing her in pain and although this is probably boring to read it feels better to just get it out---my obsession with animals certainly weakens me and it showed when she got really sick. i guess i'm just worried anyway here's hoping for the best.
tomorrow i go to san pedro to work with the little monsters..uh hem...i mean seals. here's hoping don't get bitten again. i'd love it if i could make it through one five hour shift with them without making a complete fool of myself. i don't understand why other people don't seem more nervous dealing with the animals. it seems as though i'm the only one who's a little afraid that i'll come back without a thumb as was almost the case last thursday. i suppose what makes it worth it is knowing that in the end i did help a little bit and seeing the animals is so interesting. i'm surprised at how much i'm taking to the medical side of things. i helped in the process of drawing blood samples and of course the infamous tube feeding. it's sad to watch them put an animal to sleep but that's life in the jungle...or um ocean.
friday i leave for dallas for my cousin abby's wedding.i am in the house party so i finally bought something to wear. i am not actually going to be walking down the aisle to violins or anything but apparently it will be me, my sister, my cousins nate and anne and maybe some of the grooms's family members-that part i'm not sure of-hopefully there will be an escort for me so i don't fall. oh jeez i better not fall that would make for quite a family memory. i suppose that's it for now. i start ucla on monday and i'm so happy about that. i miss new orleans as usual and all that comes with that.
