1) It's been building for a while, I think. S2 pretty much killed my love for new canon because of how horribly they treated novel concepts like consistent characterization (especially in Arthur, who was my very favorite and all of his S1 growth was just erased in S2 and. ugh, no, ty). I did the Pornathon again this summer in the hopes that it would pull me back into a Merlin mood, but it really didn't, and then Inception and DCU happened, so Idek. I have a shamefully late help_haiti fic I need to finish up and post, and I still have some WIPs and outlines that may one day see the light of day if I ever do a WIP amnesty fest or get bitten by the Merlin bug again or something. But for now, and once that h_h fic is done, I've moved onto other sandboxes, and I can't say I really regret that decision all that much.
2) BRUCE WAYNE > EVERYTHING ELSE SORRY TO SAY. I JUST WANT TO CURL UP INSIDE HIS NEUROTIC, OVERLY-COMPARTMENTALIZED, CRAZY LITTLE HEADSPACE AND NEVER EVER LEAVE.
So yeah, I'm mostly doing DCU stuff these days. I've got Scottish Ship to finish for Inception (ffffffff ROBERT FISCHER I AM TRYING TO GET YOU LAID, PLEASE JUST START TALKING TO ME AGAIN), and then we'll see if I get any more bright ideas for writing there. I'm sure it'll happen, but right now all of my writing, when it works with me, is inclined towards DCU. I've chatficced a whole bunch of shameless porn, and I'm slowly going through and turning those into actual fics to post eventually, but mainly I'm working my way through character studies and things that are all to help me learn them. And idek if I'll ever really move beyond character studies for these people because seriously, I don't even feel like I need proper plot; their relationships and crazy complex headspaces are more than enough to keep me busy. ffffffff DCU, you feed my character study addiction too perfectly to be real.
Aha, pretty much the same! I got a job this semester, so that's required some schedule readjusting. And for school, classes aren't terrible in terms of workload, but two of them are definitely not what I was expecting when I signed up for them last spring, and they never really got better during the semester. I'm just glad this term is almost over so I can have winter break to hopefully get my writing-fu back and then move onto more exciting literature classes in the spring. The reading load is going to kill me, but ffffff the material is going to be excellent.
