I resent that I am being repeatedly tormented by a commercial during the Golden Globes in which the misuse of "begs the question" is further perpetuated. And it is trivial, in the sense that no one should be allowed to graduate from sixth grade without knowing it. I totally agree that no one should have to have bad English beaten out of them in college, but unfortunately most teachers don't even care anymore. I, however, grew up with an excellent copy editor of a mother.
