friday and sunday were my only free days of the week, but i landed an internship for what amounts to my
dreamjob (an opportunity i couldn't pass up), so now i just have sundays. it feels good to be busy and have a regular schedule again. went out that night to celebrate with the girls which meant dancing at orchard bar.
saturday morning was brunch with jesse, which was slightly twilight-zoneish considering the last time he'd been to enid's was with me, back when we were dating, which happened to be during the time of the last blizzard and valentine's day. strange how things work like that.
met up later with leah and went to ps1. apparently they're about to change exhibits, so there wasn't much to look at, but jessica rankin's work, "the measure of every pause"
and ricky swallow's sculptures (detail from "killing time")
definitely made it worth the visit. very cool stuff.
came into the city afterwards even though it was already starting to snow, and leah took me to get the most amazing and cheap soup ever. the place is right next to my school, so i think i'm going to be eating there all the time now. we then walked around for a bit and did a little shopping. by the time i got home, the snow was starting to stick so i stayed in and read some more of my book.
woke up sunday morning and watched cartoons in bed until it was time to meet eric and emily for brunch. walked the long way to the train and took some photos.
the snow drift that greeted me when i opened the door. i love the indentations from the design on it.
steps to the big church down the street
mailboxes
icicles on the god bless deli grocery sign
parking meter (look how tall the drift is!)
mccarren park

then took more photos in the city when it turned out the directions eric gave me weren't completely accurate. good thing he gave me the wrong directions, otherwise i'd never have seen this father and son duo skiing around 9th ave and 38th st.
found emily before i found the place, and we walked around together for a bit until eric texted with the correct address. took these on the way there.
eric and emily at brunch at film center cafe. $13 gets you brunch and all you can drink mimosas, screwdrivers and bloody marys.
after brunch, eric and i picked up my sled and headed down to some park off the washington-clinton stop on the g train. this was on the way to my house, right after eric knocked me over into a huge snow drift. i couldn't stop laughing!
eric with my sled walking up the gradual side of the hill
top of the steep side
me going down the steep side
me falling while climbing back up the steep side
sled races

my favorite thing about 18+ inches of snow? falling backwards into it.
eric tried it too.
came home and watched fox sunday and grey's anatomy. and HOLY SHIT did anyone else see last night's episode? man, that was intense. i think that was my favorite one so far. i mean, really. WOW.
so after all that excitement, i thought i was starting to get sick yesterday, so of course my suspicions were confirmed when i woke up this morning with what i'm pretty sure is strep throat. waiting for the school nurse to call me back so i can come in and get the swab test. yay! antibiotics!
