it's that time of year.
after walking just over 13 miles on thursday in converse (aka worst walking shoes ever), flying to florida on friday and island hopping with my family was a much needed and very welcome change of pace.(i'll post photos when i get back to ny.) on my birthday, i woke up ten feet from the beach and spent the morning sitting under a tiki hut watching the pelicans dive bomb for breakfast, then ended the day alternating between a heated pool and a hot tub. after a few days of the barrier islands, we came back to ocala where i've been lazy, shopping with my family, over-eating, and falling asleep in front of the tv on a regular basis (read, at least five times a day.) i made it up to gainesville last night with a friend for the first time in almost five years, and actually enjoyed myself immensely at the atlantic.
i found out yesterday that my high school sweet-heart's dad passed away on monday after a 14 mo battle with cancer, so i changed my flight in order to attend the funeral. he was a close family friend even after his son and i broke up, since the son and i had known eachother since we were each about four years old and our families were also good friends. i remember all the good times we all had together, fishing and going to gator games, and how he was always so kind and even gave me a job at his law firm when i wasn't able to work my job in high school any more. he will be greatly missed.

there were a lot of them - the snowball fight last january with my best ny friends and drinking sparks slushies made from snow on the ground (why did that seem like a good idea?), my first date with justin back at the beginning of march, seeing rob and nin x 2 (in may and october) and riding on nin’s tour bus from ny to philly, elia's rooftop party at the beginning of the summer, staten island with justin josh and mike, exploration trips with bret back in february, watching the 4th of july fireworks from the roof party while drinking too much wine, austin's amazing thanksgiving party, and many others
3) What was your least favorite moment of the year?
there really weren't any worthy of least favorite
4) Where were you when 2005 began?
i was in philly with melissa, katie, sarai, gates, etc... at some huge party. and i think !!! might have been playing live as the soundtrack for a while?

i fly back to ny on the 31st now, so i'm guessing somewhere there... hopefully it'll involve a hot tub
