#18) endurance is not a virtue. endurance is the default human psychological position that we all fall into when we have no other place to go. the position of those who do not have the capability or willingness to change their life. having the strength, the determination and / or the talent to change one's circumstances for the better . . . those are virtues.
#19) everybody has an opinion. everybody even has a right to their own opinions. however, that does not mean that everybody's opinions are correct. in fact it practically guarantees there are incorrect opinions out there since there are so many differing opinions. it's no great thing to have an opinion. being correct in one's opinion is another matter.
#20) the majority of adults believe that they know how the world works (at least in some particulars). but people's opinions on how the world works differ in almost every particular. therefore, someone has to be right and someone has to be wrong. the problem is, it's nigh on impossible to suss out who is and who isn't correct in the moment. the thing to remember is that a person's beliefs infuse their decision making process. those people who's beliefs are more closely aligned with reality are more likely to make correct decisions. those people who's beliefs are not, will not. so . . . listen and give weight to the beliefs of those who have shown longterm success at life.
#21) there are three types of people in the world; assholes, doormats and all the people in-between. assholes act as if their desires are always more important than anyone else's. doormats act as if everyone else's desires are always more important than theirs. for those of us that live in-between, it helps to recognize that sometimes we are assholes and sometimes we are doormats. that's just the way it works.
