I bet you think this song is about you, it's not.

So I was thinking:

What the heck is wrong with people today? Are we so afraid of ourselves that we can't even confront a person to say "Hey, what's up?" That we have to have a website specifically aimed to baby us through our cowardice? Are we so insecure and unable to connect that we need to keep an online running total of how many "friends" we have? I'm glade that so many people online think you are awesome from the 10 pictures you put up, but how many them are going to come and rescue you when your car breaks down in Atlanta? How many are going are going to stay around and really be there for you? You may be their newest coolest friend of the day, but what about next week? What is the worst that could happen if we actually went up to someone and introduced ourselves? I mean, granted there are some crazy people out there who would bite your hand if you stuck it out for a shake, but for the most part people would just shake it back or return the hello. Just think of all the people you see everyday that you've wanted to talk to, what's stopping you? The fact that you don't have a computer screen to hide behind? It's all just so pathetic.

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main.-John Donne

I like knowing that my friends are real and tangible, that they are not just "friends."
